nirvana is good.

If you can use roms then parados is great.

I will try it and see if it works better than jl, i do not have a rom board but will get one pretty soon because i still can't locate a 3" drive so the 3.5 seems to be the only option. I've tested Parados on an emulator and it's great and if i really wan't to take advantage of the extra space i must get one.

Can anyone suggest a file copy program on the cpc other than JL-Copy (discology excluded)? seems it does not like big files (more than 30k) very much.
- Disc'O'Magic i think would speed up if you are copying many single files (you can mark multiple files for copying).
- Amsback De Luxe is a single file copier in the style of JL-copy.
- Symbos (floppy version, dont need roms) it dosnt get much easier copying files than in a "windows" style OS & it obviously helps that Symbos automaticly recognizes disc formats (720kb pc dos, Amsdos, etc)
- Xexor is a good disc copier.

Weird about JL-copy couldnt handle the file. Even the old version should have no troubles with a 30kb file. Perhaps try the later version's jl-F128 program as if that cant handle it then its not the size that is the issue.

Jl-copy copied the file but it just wouldn't work afterwards. I tried Nirvana and it was great but i actually found my self using Symbos at the end, the user friendly windows type gui made a big difference when copying multiple(understatement) files.

Does anyone know if there is way to (even temporarily) load a rom from a disc in order to correctly read 3.5 disks? II've read somewhere that one of the internal roms can actually be overwritten but i can't find any info on how to do it, all of the above assuming its safe and will not damage in any way my cpc.

Bryce

The internal ROMs can't be over-written, rather you can disable some of them and point the computer to an alternative external ROM on a ROMBoard.

Then maybe this part on the rom page needs rewording or maybe it was me that didn't get the point  ???

The 6128 has internal ROMs 0 and 7 (0 can be overwritten but not 7).

The sentence is more or less correct. There are two ROMs in the 6128. A 32K ROM (ROM0) which holds both the lower ROM code (Firmware) and BASIC ROM code. This can be disabled. Some people call this "overwritten", but the chip isn't actually being overwritten, just replaced. ROM7 (16K) contains AMSDOS and has no electrical way of being disabled.
