gotcha

Hello,
I have a DMP2000 printer and until now, I didn't manage to find any ink ribbon for it.Without ink ribbons, the printer unfortunatelly just becomes useless.

Does anyone know if we can still get new ink ribbons for DMP printers ?
Thanks !

Hello
I have written to an alibaba supplier
https://french.alibaba.com/product-detail/compatible-printer-ink-ribbon-for-printer-amstrad-dmp2000-3000-212021519.html

But sadly  , this company does not produce anymore those ribbons.

This url doesn't give the good ribbon. :(
What is referenced as 2000, 3000, and DMP 3000  doesn't indeed give the expected pictures for the ribbons.

Well, I was not feeling comfortable buying on alibaba. I'm glad you tried. At least now, we know that they don't actually produce it.

I think that all these DMP printers are now useless due to the lack of ribbons. I'm not feeling confortable throwing mine away, but I think that this is what is going to happen. :-[
If someone in France is interested getting one for free, please let me know (see: https://forum.system-cfg.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9285)

For printing from my CPC, I've finally acquired a more recent Amstrad LQ3500 printer for which we can still easily buy ribbons on ebay

Don't throw it away if you ever intend to use a DART scanner  :)
You don't need a ribbon for that.

Désolée... Don't know how they look like. I never had an Amstrad printer, I always used a Commodore MPS on my CPC.  :o

Well, actually I've seen a DART once on ebay, but someone was ready to pay more money for it than me  :) The DART scanner is pretty rare !

I'm pretty sure that if anyone still makes them, Porelon in Tennessee still does. They used to be IBM's printer ribbon division. They still make impact printer ribbons for specialist applications. Someone, somewhere will still be using this type of printer in a commercial application and Porelon will make a tiny amount of money making ribbons for it.
The DMP 2000 was basically a badged version of the ALPS ASP1000 (except with all the ugly taken out of it). It was also sold as a C.Itoh Riteman-C (and Riteman-F) and C.Itoh Prowriter Jr. I also wouldn't be too averse to buying from Shenzhen: there are a couple of manufacturers who have taken pretty much the whole ALPS OEM printer line and made compatible parts and mechanisms. I've been tempted to get a clone of the terrible old ALPS 4-colour mini pen plotters (badged by Tandy, Atari, CBM and others) to see what I can make of it.
