Hi,

First sorry to ask (I guess) the same question like here: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/rgb-scart-cable-done-myself-but/

but... I really don't get hardware and I am not sure what should I exactly say to the guy who made me a cable.... (I would like to summarize and confirm what is needed)

So, here are the facts:

- I went to some hardware guy and ordered this: http://www.cpcmania.com/Docs/Scart/Scart.htm for my CPC464
- Instead, I got 6pin video to SCART and nothing else (no audio part, no power and no special secret "applying 5V to pin 16 or 8" with resistors or not...)
- when I connected result was that I got low quality B&W picture (but text was in place)
- the hardware guy said that (from the link above) he can add to the cable audio part, but he does not understand and/or doesn't have the resistors/electronic for the power part (I guess that is RBG activation)
- i have some old CRT color TV

My questions are:

- what to say to the guy in order to make me a nice little cable (if possible adjust the current one) to have full color picture on my TV?
- what to say (ask) in order to have separate power supply (I guess 5V, but is there some other spec/requirement for that)?

Thanks

This pdf (attached) I got from the "cable guy". For me, this does not mean a lot, but if someone knows if this is correct or needs to be adjusted, please say so.

I was told that in the links I found on this forum there are multiple solutions so they are not sure which would work.

Also, I need to buy a resistor - can someone tell me what to ask: is the "180 ohm resistor" enough information when buying one of these?

You may be able to switch the source manually on the TV, can you tell me the exact model of the TV?

As for the cable guy. You could bring him this picture and ask him to make this: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/imgs/a/a8/Alt_Scart_Connect.PNG

Hey Bryce,

TV is brand ELIN, and this is on the back:

MODEL: E2117
color system pal secam b/g d/k
power source 220V 50/60Hz
power source 75W

This is how the TV looks like: https://www.eponuda.com/tv_televizori/elin/441244_l.jpg

Thanks for the picture, I will show the picture you sent.

Bryce

Can't find any information about that device online, but most TVs with SCART input allow you to manually choose which protocol you want to display.

Ok, I managed to switch to the color on TV manually, also the sound is working and the power supply.

I used 5V, 3amp power supply with positive center polarity (I guess that is how you say it :) )

And for cable I used mentioned links.

Thanks, I saw that this is question which often gets asked, maybe we should stick some info regarding this in the hardware forum...

Anyway, if someone can tell me what are other options I can use to connect my cable to, except old CRT TVs, I would be grateful?
(like some monitor... LCD? CRT? but I guess the sound on monitor is not an option then:) )

Bryce

Well there are 1084 colour monitors around that have a SCART input and sound, but they are quite expensive when you find one, especially the postage costs.
