Yesterday! Yay!

OK, yes, I've been a cheap arse and have been waiting for a mate to etch me a pcb instead of buying one ready made. At least I was honest though and just up front said I couldn't afford to buy an HxC AND a mega flash. Hence I've gone for a MegaROM as it meant only one pint of beer for a single sided pcb rather than a whole case full for a double sided one. I need to drill the pcb but I'm hoping that won't pose a problem. Then I'll likely go with an EEPROM as it saves digging out the pond filter whenever I want to erase it  :P

Hey, sounds cool. Post a couple of pictures. It's great to see my PCBs being produced by others. That's what the info on the Wiki is there for.

Just a quick question - what size drill bit should I use for the holes? I'm going to see if I have any friends that have a small pillar drill I could use.

Bryce

The holes for most components should be 0.6mm, the pins on the 50 way header and option jumpers should be 1mm.

Cheers - will be on the case ASAP.

Don't forget to post pictures of it :)

LOL! I won't. There's not much to take a picture of at the moment, just the bare PCB.

I was tempted to try a few holes by hand last night (just use a dremel or something) but I was too drained from work so just watched film instead anyway. I'll have to go up to the workshop tonight and see if I need to order any parts in. I know I've got the logic chips, diode, highly likely the electrolytic, and I probably have some suitable filter caps even if they're not identical type to what's been used in the past.

I am going to have to have a hunt to see if I can dig out an EEPROM though. And I think I need to order the header pins. I would have done that ages ago but I couldn't be 100% sure the PCB would materialise. Me mate came through in the end though!

Freehand drilling with a dremel is asking for trouble (even when you're fit and awake). I use something like this: http://www.proxxon.com/eng/html/28606.php to drill PCBs. I'm not sure if Dremel offer similar tools though.
