Heat sinks on 40010

Just out of curiosity, would adding a heat sink to a 40010 in a 6128 in any way prolong the life of the chip? Just a thought as I know the 40007s have one. I'm just paranoid of losing any more 40010s as they're quite difficult to get hold of now.


I "borrowed" a couple of small heat sinks from work and was thinking about sticking them on my 40010s.

I don't think I've ever seen a 40010 that died through heat, over or reverse voltage was the cause of most failures I've come across.  They don't tend to get very hot either. Add one if you like, but I doubt it will change anything.

I would add a heat sink regardless tbh.  Heat in general (even if it doesnt build up in a particular chip) is a factor to the life of any electronic component.

That's why I only use my CPCs with the fridge door open.
