:D What a state they're in! I bet I could get one working drive by combining parts from all 4. Send them over if you want me to try.

I saw them yesterday and I was like omg  :picard2:

Repair? Why would you repair them? They just need a bit of WD40, it'll be fine.  ;)

Exactly, a swipe of an oily rag and a quick polish with some T-Cut and they'll back up and running in no time :D

Btw: He claims "fire damage", but there's no way they were ever hot, just very wet. I considered buying them for the challenge, but he doesn't ship to Germany :(

Still very tempted to get these just for the challenge and for an entertaining "Ultimate restoration guide" Thread.

Somebody has placed a bid. Not you, is it?

Bryce

Indeed my eagle eyed friend :) I just bought the drives for the challenge. Now to find out whether this pile of shite can actually be restored to a working drive (at least one).

Good luck with that

I have a melted by heat gun 6128 case if you need something to house it in!
Maybe I should sell that on ebay  ;D

Haven't been watching the telly for several years now, but I know I'd watch this!

Depends how much it's melted. I've seen some really good case repairs using similar coloured plastics.

It looks like a worn out bar of soap. I was removing the badges from it
