I'll definitely buy one, but not too soon. First I'll have to get the normal version. I plan to integrate it into the CPC case. This one here I'll use for other retro computers which won't receive as much attention as the CPC.

Nicely done. €110 isn't all that much though, if you consider the amount of time he needs to modify, cut and drill the case.

Rectangle might be difficult to get, but as they are standard 3mm LEDs, you could easily replace them with the colour of your choice.

Well not really, SMD LEDs are usually square (physically), but the light emitting part can be square or round. Standard LEDs (with pins) come in all shapes and sizes, including square, rectangular, round and even triangular. The problem with using non-round LEDs with homemade cases is just the fact that making a neat square / rectangular hole in the case is almost impossible, hence most people stick with the round ones.

Very funny, I'm impressed, but I doubt any of the solutions would work at the scale (3x3mm - 5x5mm) needed for an LED in plastic, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong, I've never tried it.

Yeah, I was just joking. But I did learn some fascinating stuff while reading about square drilling!

In the past I've used an supersonic knife to cut plastic - it's like butter, fantastic stuff. You can do rectangular holes if you have a fine tip... but they're expensive.

My one and only attempt at creating a square LED hole involved heating a square metal rod (one the ones usually used for meat) and pushing it through the plastic. Result: Burnt fingers and a really messy non-square hole. I threw the case away and I've only bought round LEDs since then

Cool! At last something that matches my skills. Now I just need to eat more chocolate.

Had too much free time and lousy tools. Did not have suitable drill bits, but had pair of scissors ...
Also used carpeting knive yms tools which are likely cause nasty gashes, wounds and all around.
Especially when used with materials far more sturdier than carpet or paper...
