Today I received one of these little guys in its original plastic case :). I bought it on Ebay because I wanted a mouse for the plus and it was cheap, but I still did not try it at all. I was quite surprised when I received the mouse because everything is in excellent condition, box included. I would say that it saw almost no use at all although it is a bit yellow, as expected. I wonder if some of you has this mouse as well and can give me some advice :D.

Yes it's usable on a CPC, but you need the DKTronics Mouse Interface which is powered from the expansion port and connects to the Joystick ports.

More comfortable to use the then AMX Mouse, but missing the middle button. Still just a mouse emulating a joystick so no nice proportional movement or anything nice like that. One of these was my main mouse for years until I got a symbiface II.

I modified my Mouse Interface to take it's power from the 6128_ analog socket rather than the expansion port tidying my desk at the same time ;)

Cool then! I still do not have a mouse interface, but I am sure I will eventually find one :)

@talrek can maybe reproduce them???
Well I was just thinking about building a new batch of 10 [emoji6]
I think it is time to order components [emoji2]

If you are on it, I will buy one for sure!!!  :D

I would take one too  :)

Ok no problem, we are still talking about USB Bryce's mouse adapter aren't we ?

Bryce

Nope. The GM-7 wouldn't work with my interface. I assume they are asking whether you would clone the original Genius Mouse interface or the DK'tronics interface that also worked with a BUS mouse.

Bryce.

Bryce is right :)

Anyway, I would be happy to buy an USB mouse adapter as well and give it a try. I could also buy it as a kit, I do not care :) .

TotO

Should be nice to have a table showing the differents mice adapters on CPC and the software compatibility for each of them.  :)

Why? One OS to rule em all![nb]The lord of the mice! [/nb]

Ok, good idea!

Ok, it is why i asked to confirm it ;-)

So i was looking to the pcb pictures of the DK'tronics interface (on the cpcwiki).
It is very simple, i saw the expansion port connection is only used for the powering ? In this case wouldn't it be more interesting to do a little interface to be plugged in directly on the joystick port, and a cable for power on just like the usb mouse interface ?

Still i see just some details.
1 - can't see the electrolytic capacitor value
2 - can't see the "green" resistor value (vertical)
3 - several lines are hidden under the ICs

Perhaps it would be easier if someone who as it can take "extra-detailed" pictures

TotO

I own the DK Mouse Expansion. I will take a look next Saturday.

That would we great! Looking at the CPCWiki pictures it seems a very simple board. It would be great if we managed to clone it  :D

Electrolytic = Smoothing capacitor, value isn't critical, slap in a 100µf and you're fine. For the other bits it would be better to get the device and do a full schematic.

I agree it is the better way. I'm ready if somebody wants to send me one. I will send it back one week after. Of course shipment is for me  ;-)

I was thinking : What do we want here ?

- 100% clone (size, components ?)
- new clone : power from the 5v power plug instead of expansion port, plugged directly in the Joystick port, minimum size, SMD or through-hole components ?
- Other device ? a unique board with 3 outputs : usb mouse (Bryce), joystick port and dk'tronics ? It should be simple to do.

If someone wants to sell me a dk'tronics interface , he is welcome

I've got one you can have.... It's very battered as I modded it to be powered from the plus analog port many years ago.

I guess that a new board with 3 outputs would be the very best :) :) :)

Wow that's really great Craig. You're awesome. I will do the reverse pcb files and publish it on the wiki for everybody.

Hi,
thanks to @CraigsBar who sent me his card.
i'm drawing it to clone it after. I didn't decide how i will power it... Expansion (like the original) or from the monitor, and then to the CPC (like Bryce's mouse adapter)...

CraigsBar

Once cloned, I'll buy one. I still have a genius busmouse too.
