Hey folks,

I'm planning to buy myself a cable/converter solution in order to properly connect my CPCs to LCD monitor (I adore CRTs but sometimes, I have to..)

What are your thoughts on this product ->

There's mixed reactions to that device. The original version gave a relatively good picture, but the latest version has changes that cause black dots throughout the picture. There's a fix to this that I'm working on, but it's not finished yet.

Other than this product, what's the proven, most elegant solution to connect the CPC to LCD panel?
(I dug the Wiki and forums but couldn't come up with a consensus..)

Thanks

My method is a but convoluted, but I find it gives the best results. I convert the RGB to S-video first using one of my adapters: RGB SVideo - CPCWiki and then feed the S-Video signal into an S-video to VGA adapter. This is the one I use: (see below)  but there are many other devices available too.

Second link won't work for some reason: "http://www.pollin.de/shop/dt/OTA4ODcyOTk-/Computer_und_Zubehoer/Hardware/Monitore/Video_zu_VGA_Konverter_Box_PREMIUMBLUE_V2V.html";;

Syntax Error in 3D will look good!  :D
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D   * with the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

Your solution and the documentation provided seems great to me. (The mini version is impressive!)

Wish I had my hands on one of these :)

Just sent.

Another question btw: -Can't I use your converter directly with a simple S-video <> Scart connector, bypassing the 2nd converter device?

Bryce

If your TV has an S-Video input it will of course work directly with that.

Typo: I meant s-video<>vga connector (there are some very cheap ones, without much of a circuit inside)

The V2V that I linked to above is S-Video to VGA, do you have a link to the type of device you mean?

They don't work on most VGA monitors. The S-video PAL signal is 15Khz and most VGA monitors will only sync down to 31Khz.

Wrong direction. That cable is only for connecting a VGA graphics card to a TV. It's just a cable (no conversion circuitry inside) so it only works with graphics cards that already produce a composite or s-video signal.

Best cheap solution is the GBS8200 with a custom configuration loader (see thread Crappy VGA image quality.). Here's mine...

Yours look awesome, congrats. [emoji106]

Just peeked into that thread too. But it's a bit too complex for me,  all the alterations you guys have been talking there..  [emoji15]
