Any thoughts on these being modifyable for Cpc use? I know autofire will almost certainly never work. But how similar are the specs of the nes and Cpc joystick ports.

No. Buy the Sega Master System version instead.

OK that was a short sesrch, I have 2 new and unused (Boxed and shrinkwrapped) Master system Konix Speedking joysticks on their way to me. Looking at the pinout diagrams it seems that I only need to move fire 1 from pin 9 on the master system to pin 3 on the Amstrad. That shoudl be a nice easy mod.

However looking at the spec the master system has +5v on pin 5 (for the auto fire circuit) and this is not present on the CPC.

Logically therefore if I were to bridge internally from the +5v on the Analogue port to pin 5 on both joystick ports on the 6128 plus I should get autofire working on both ports correct? From what I can see on the board, pin 5 is not connected to any tracks and as such adding +5v to this pin should have no ill effects, other than providing a working Autofire  :D

If this is all that is needed then it is amazing that Amstrad never did this on the plus machines. a working Autofire added with 2 short pieces of wire would be have added very little to the machine cost yet been another improvement over the Classic model.

Kind Regards

Craig

I all cases, you need to build a little 9pin/9pin adapter to make the fire2 button working w/o destroying your Konix controller.
So, You can add on it a power jack to input the required +5V supply if you want to use the auto-fire.
(all that is easy to achieve and allow to keep the joystick safe)

Well the Speedkings arrived. Unfortunately the Auto Fire on the Master System must work by Black Magic as the 5v pin is missing in the plug, therefore I did not mod the 6128 plus to provide it, there seemed to be little point. I guess the MS provides slightly more power over the U, D, L, R, F1 and F2 pins so that the Autofire can run without the 5v. I am not about to do any more modding, as I can live without autofiro.

Moved Fire 2 from Pin 9 to Pin 7 in a 9 pin dsub double ended hood.

Tested and all controls worl correctly :)

I made 2 adaptors (and ordered 2 Speedkings) unfortuately I cannot at present use them both at once as the Hoods are about 1mm to wide to plug into the side of the plus at the same time.

A Speedking and a GX4000 paddle is still a pretty good combo fpr 2 player pang.
