Hello guys,
A while ago I had found a program that touched the dates in a list of files so that devices, such as the HxCSDFE could display them in alphanumerical order (instead of the silly date order). Anyone remembers which one it was? I think it had been mentioned here, too...

Bryce

There's a program that does that called NVC that you can get here: http://sio2sd.gucio.pl/wiki/SoftwarePC_en

I haven't tried it myself, but it looks well written, might be worth a try.

Ahhh not NVC but DriveSort, on the same page! Cool, time I used it again... thanks mate1

PS NVC sounds interesting, too...

What I do with the HXC, while it's not touching dates I admit, is to use folders. In the root, I have GAMES, DEMOS, DISKMAGS, whatever... and as children of those roots, I have A-D, E-G, etc..

Bryce

So do I, but you still end up having all the files in Games\A or whatever in the wrong order. In some "Letter Directories" I have 50 files, not alphabetically sorted. Murphys Law tells me it will be the second last file, but it still takes ages to find things sometimes.

Actually, sorting could be done under the Manager. The problem is, it would implies to get through all FAT entries for a specified folder, and I'm sure it would not be appreciated to wait something like 10 seconds to get into a large folder.

Bryce is right, I hade lots of dirs myself (of course) but their contents are all over the place as I keep adding images.

@Norecess: yeah, we've discussed this before... but, here's an idea: maybe you could add a routine to touch the dates from within the manager that is only run when the user selects it instead of every time?

[Edit] nahhh I just realised this probably wouldn't work; I was thinking of the SD as external storage, which is not what it is for the system...

I use DriveSort as well to sort files on SD cards. It's a small but very useful tool indeed.
