A while back someone asked me about replacements for the 464 tape counter, but unfortunately I can't remember who it was. If anyone is interested, you can buy two different counters here. Both look like they would fit without having to make many (if any) changes to the CPC and they only cost 50 cents each, so it's not a huge investment to find out whether they fit or not.

The second one (the one with the plexi-glass) looks like it would fit best (due to the shape and position of the reset button).

I was wondering about retro-fitting a counter into my 464+... at 50c, I can't go wrong really!

But looking at the second (with the cover), It does seem to be fitted with a cog rather than the Amstrads... um... Polo mint? (toothless gear). May be wrong though, and my German is far too rusty to read the page

I think it has a cog with "polo-mint" beside it, but my eyes are as good as your German :D Either way, you could use the polo-mint from your original counter, as I doubt that this is the bit that broke. Or if you bought both types, you could use the polo-mint from the other one.

The problem with retro-fitting a counter to the 464+ is that the other "polo-mint" ie: on the tape spindel is probably not there?

I checked a while ago, and there is a groove that will fit a drive belt on the nobbly bits
  • [/sup] that fit into the tape. So it's more of a case of getting it attached.

    • [/sup]Damn, I should learn the proper terminology!

Then you just need a belt that fits :) and that should be easy to find.
