My CM14 smells of ozone when operated :(

Can anyone recommend a pre-made scart cable that works according to Bryce's most recent SCART fixes?

I have access to a Sony trinitron 14" (with s-video and scart) and a new flatscreen with scart and component.

Thanks

I don't have an answer about the cables but what are these "recent scart fixes" ? you have a link to those?

He means the "Alternative" wiring with capacitor that I suggest here: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/TV_SCART_cable#Alternative_RGB_Wiring

I see, I suppose it's for the same issues that made me modify my plus av-out connector

The capacitor is just a passive way of creating the input selection voltage that some TVs need, without having to have a battery in the SCART cable.

Something is arcing in there then. Any local TV repair people? Could be something simple like perished insulation.

Ozone ?
Probably dust on picture tube.
can you do small technical jobs ?
Unplug Power from Monitor, Wait 24 Hours , Remove back cover.
Remove dust from picture tube with a DRY cloth.
Good luck

If it's making crackling sounds when it's turned on, then the HT cable most likely has cracks and it's arching to the chassis inside. It would be a really bad idea to try looking at this yourself.

It's not continous. It's random and once it's warmed up there are no crackles BUT there is still the ozone.

I'm not going to power it up - it was enough to make me a bit light headed.

I'll be getting a scart cable.

I don't think there are any television repair shops around here. Plenty of telephone repairs and telephone unlocking.

My experience when our tv was broken was that it was sent away to be repaired.

I live in a city too! It's changed a lot over the past few years.

:( too late for me, good for others to know.

I ordered the active cable from coolnovelties last night. I had a £5 paypal voucher to use too.
I found your other cables but failed to see this when I was browsing yesterday :(

EDIT: The £5 voucher was for payments in £ only, so it would not qualify for your cable.
