SCART TV Wiring......ghosts

Hi all
I notice from reading the forum that there have been many SCART queries already, however I think I may have a new one.....

I bought a cable from Retrocomputershack and it wired it up to my CPC and a Tesco Technica flatscreen tv. The image showed up perfectly but kept flicking off and then back on again.
I looked at the wiki, and noticed Bryces' alternative wiring diagram. This appears to be the wiring setup in my cable. So i added the 100uf capacitor and the screen now stays on and i get the colour screen etc. However what I am also seeing is a ghosted image sitting about an inch to the right of the regular text on screen.
I wondered if anyone had any thoughts about how to solve this?

i had loads of problems with scart issues and i tried the scart 2 or 3 different ways on 3 different makes of lcd tv's in my house, talking to bryce in the end he advised me that sometimes it can be the tv so i went for this option and it seems to work the best

Thanks for the link to the auction.
I have purchase one and hopefully it will solve some of my problems.

I happen to have a MP2 and have looked at the modification for adding a composite output to it so might try that option as well.

Back at the original cable i'm starting to wonder if i am getting interference/reflection on the ground signal after adding the capacitor. I did use a tantalum cap, so i'm wondering if i might be better with an polorised cap instead.

You should definitely use a polarised electrolytic capacitor, not a tantilum. Also the length of the cable can be a problem too. If it's too long it could cause shadowing too.

Cheers Bryce i shall swap out for a different cap and see if that solves the problem.

Nice tip. Is this avoidable with a higher quality cable?

If the cable was badly screened or had no screen or if the GND wire is too long, these could all effect the picture, so a short good quality cable is going to give you the best results. Gold-plated contacts on the other hand are complete rubbish, just trying to make the cable look more expensive so they can charge more for it. The only advantage is that they don't oxidise, but the other side of the connection (in the TV) definitely aren't gold and you should never connect different material contacts.
