Ladies and gentlemen, please don't shoot the messenger............... :)

I read it and I am an American and disagree with it. Words like 'outdated' and 'swindle' should be used lightly when you consider the context of development back then. It is easy to say those things when you have titles like Assassins Creed: Origins where it looks like you are playing a movie, but c'mon, when the world was full of Zilog it was a different day.

I would encourage anyone to dismiss this as a journalist doing the popular American thing and ripping on old consoles. These marvels of technology are the artifacts of the future. An Amstrad GX-4000 will one day soon be the same as an Aston Martin DB5 and any American knows that car is hotly desired. It will take us a while to learn how to appreciate it, just as it took some time to appreciate the DB5, but in the end we will see the beauty and the genius.

I think we all will learn to appreciate the wonders of the early console market. A market that had to develop and is still doing so to this day. Yes the GX-4000 had a bad power brick and few releases, but Xbox 360 had red rings...and the 360 had lots of money whereas the GX-4000 was on a shoestring budget.  They need to have respect for the elders, something had to come first. Console history is fraught with mistakes and successes. I think any console that got an official release in the early 90's, or before, is a remarkable success. You may not like it, but then again I do not like sensationalist journalism.

The author is not American either so it give the piece less substance.

No worries chap, Jaz is pretty well known over here in the UK mate.

"old, out-dated technology in a new box. "
Well, it worked for Nintendo.  The Wii was basically a repackaged Gamecube with a motion controller (there's even an emulator on PC called Dolphin that emulates both GC and Wii)
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife

So when the GX4000 was released, what other carts were available to buy in the shops on day one?

GUNHED

Forget it, that's just a trolling article.
