I mean could you do any better for 20 quid?

Already posted, you could always frame as a piece of retro history, that's bound to quadruple the value doing so

Say what now?
6128 Plus, admittedly one of them boxed and in great condition, but... £549 and £359???
Well, they say everything has a price. And if you look at it from that perspective, then sure. I wouldn't wanna sell my CPC plus - but if you offered a million quid for it, then ok. (Although I'd still hesitate).

For anyone collecting for the gx4000 a copy of the relatively rare mystical cart Mystical is on there right now.
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232813364478

However it is already going for stupid money already for what is quite frankly a completely rubbish game.

I noticed there are now alot of sellers trying to shift gx4000 machines for all over 100 quid, that price doesn't seem to have gained much traction yet but with the way ebay works it could,  i hope that doesn't become the norm.

I guess the Spanish NOS supply has dried up. Glad I got mine when they were cheap and plentiful!

Hello,

in my search for a spare drive i found these 2 on ebay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Inch-B-DRIVE-For-The-AMSTRAD-PCW-8256-8512-Computers-Untested/153148318130?hash=item23a859e1b2:g:W~wAAOSwCGhamGhm
Sold as is but looks repairable, the question will this PCW unit fit my 6128?

and this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boxed-Opus-Discovery-1-Disk-Drive-for-ZX-Spectrum-With-Operating-Manual/323408852586?hash=item4b4cab766a:g:-MIAAOSwVnFbZcFJ
looks in a bad shape but i'm pretty sure the drive on the right is a 3" unit and by the looks of it the auction will close on a low price.

which one do you recommend?

edit
also i forgot to post this little gem

The pcw drive will fit fine once you take it out the cage but that seller knows what they are don't, and works be seeking as working if it was,  so the drive is likely to be faulty and not working, if you aren't capable of a repair avoid buying it.

if it is in a better shape than mine was i will be able to repair it, so if the top cage gets removed it otherwise is the same thing? correct?

It may just need a new belt, but if you look closely at dust on the insertion flap, you can see that a disk has been inserted recently, so it IS tested and most likely confirmed as not working.

The Opus Discovery had a 3.5in drive.

i'm actually hoping it just needs a new belt (easy fix) as for the opus, i know it had 3.5" units but the one on the right doesn't look like one and it may have been replaced, i will wait till the last minute and if the price totals around 40 euros with shipping i may risk it.

The seller sells alot of these, i think if all it needed was a new belt they would have fitted that and sold as working and got alot more money for it.  Check their feedback to make a better judgement on whether my assumption is correct.

well he does have a 100% score so when he says for spares of repair it tend to believe him  :D :D :D

Difficult to argue that a drive didn't work when it is advertised as such!

Be careful though and ask the seller if it's a double sided 720KB drive.

You could use it with a CPC but you won't be able to use regular 180KB one sided disks.

tjohnson

Very good point, it is advertised as b drive so highly likely to be the double sided drive.
