Without being able to see full details of the bidder, I would suspect its either a shill bidder or someone just pissing about - especially on the drive. I've been "victim" of bidders who unregister after pushing an auction to silly limits.

Unfortunately ebay removed ability to track shill bidding which i guess they don't care about as the more an item sells for the more money they make

As requested by the Seller I have removed this post.

Skunkfish

It's a bit odd, if what I'm seeing is correct then both bidders involved have very high feedback ratings (1000+).
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

tjohnson

So it may well become available again then, it does seem astronmically high. It should be possible to cancel a bid "entered the wrong amount" but then best not get involved of the high bidders ultimately pulls out and doesn't pay up.

Thanks for the pointer! I'll snap this one up. It's getting harder by the day to find totally useless empty boxes from retro mice. I thought I'd never find one again! :D

Wow seems big dollar for a ZX Spectrum cable tied onto a bit of wood.

It's an extremely rare hardwood box, hand felled from the amazon (that rain forest, not the online shop). You just don't appreciate the magnificent devices being offered these days!

Maybe you'll find it in his other sales:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/retrobytecomputers/m.html?item=132949371903&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

Somewhere between the 200GBP ZX Spectrum and the 549GBP Spectrum +2  :picard2: You can pick up some 10GBP "vintage" components (standard 7805 regulators) while you are there! It only costs 25GBP to get it to you, so you get a 30 cent 7805 for just 35GBP!

If you throw in an offer for my "Repair Guarantee Service" (€2000 per year, conditions apply*) I'll give you a 10% cut. :)

Bryce.

* This service guarantees that I will repair your over priced computer for an additional over the top price as long as you are willing to extend the guarantee for a further 5 years at a further €2000 per year.
