Is anyone else having issues accessing the forum using Tapatalk? It suddenly stopped working for me a couple of days ago but does display any errors. All I get is a blank screen when trying to browse. I know there was some talk a while ago about removing the integration but I've not seen anything recently.
Hello Maniac,
Indeed it's that time. Apologies for not announcing it earlier, I'm still testing things. Basically Tapatalk is a dangerous beast when it come to how it aggressively attaches to the database, so I was looking at disabling it as part of the effort to deal with our performance issues.
Indeed since I took it off the forum/server seems much more stable, so I'll give it a few days before deciding whether I bring it back or not.
Completely understand the reasons and thought that was most likely the case. A shame though as it's the most accessible way for me, personally, to access the forum and keep up to date with goings on here. Trying to read the forum even on a large smartphone isn't a very pleasant experience but that isn't anybody's fault, it's just how forums render.
How do others access the forum when they're out and about?
Yes, I know. Tapatalk is by far the best and most convenient method, and I can't understand how come there are no other similar solutions...
I'll look into adding a mobile-friendly theme, perhaps?
Thanks Gryzor that would be great if you could. Will make things a bit more accessible.
This has a slight complication in that I will then have to detect whether the user is on his mobile device and change the theme automatically, but I'll give it a go.
Ooh look what I found! $99 is probably reasonable if people are going to donate toward it... But would people install a second app (other than Tapatalk)? Time for a poll, I think!

For the convenience I'd more than likely contribute if others were prepared to. On the surface the app looks good to me and covers both mobile platforms. Also looks like you can recover costs via the custom app which could be charged for in the appropriate store but again depends on the number of people who would use such a thing!
Yes, though a paid app would mean I'd have to register as a developer, which means more costs... I think donations would probably be best.
