Title: "Recoloured" images from various sources/platforms.
Post by: tastefulmrship on 09:57, 03 May 17
VOLUME 0 (requires PARADOS)
A while back, someone asked for the unintentionally controversial thread (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/other-retro/proof-that-the-commodre-64-palette-is-far-superior-to-the-amstrad-cpc/) images on a .dsk file. And, finally, here it is!

NOTE: Press any key to load the next image.

EDIT: For some reason CPC-60.EXO doesn't work! The file shows as 9000+kb long and an "unknown" format. I've tried numerous versions of Exomizer to no avail! If anyone has any ideas why this could be happening, I can post the image file(s) here for you to play with!

VOLUMES 1-4
Attached are a number of recoloured images from various sources (including a number of mockups and images from this forum) and platforms; especially the Atari 8-Bit machine!
RUN"<filename>" to view the images... but remember, those with a "+" will require a CPC+ to view them!

NOTE: I hold no copyright to any of these images and I apologise to any artist who is offended by any/all of this collection.

"Adeptus" :
I can't believe you manage to get your hands on the CPc port of "the Drive Belt Exorcism"...  ;D
I fail to understand how it would need a PLUS actually... it is a CPC palette port.

Nice to have those compilations. I'm lookinhg at those.
I guess the floppies are quite full...
I think some "loading menu with graphical selection interface" would be perhaps funnier/easier than to launch them individually from the CAT.

could you do that or was I missing this ?

Post Edit :
ok, i'm using winape, enabled the ASIC/PLUS emul but have french ROM (azerty)
the PLUS ones are not quite working, especially from the second disk (still testing, others seem to work)

Also can't we come back to basic by just pressing a key ?
And I confirm, most of the "PLUS" pictures I managed to see use CPC palette and no sprites, hences may be launched from an CPC.

post edit : tested the full Volume 0 from the C64 ports is nice and works well under mulator, I should check on real device...
you should re-do the other dsk in order to have such sort of diaporamas please...  ::)

The version in "Volume 1" is the one I supplied to you before the ReSet compo. It uses both CPC+ and CPCnorm palettes.
You chose to release the JavaCPC version, instead... which is fair enough! It was your image, it was your choice! ^_^

As mentioned in my first posts; these images are ones I worked on/recoloured! Hence your "Adeptus" is in this collection!
Some of the other images are mockups released on CPCWiki forums as .png files and I just converted to CPC hardware! Some are ones converted by other people, released to me as .png files but never released to the public. THOSE IMAGES I had to get specific permission for... which was granted! (Except for one image that was already released in the BREAKING BAUD demo. That one was removed.)

I did consider a "loader" as such, but found I could fill a .dsk with more "content" if each was separately RUNable.

You need to use the CPC+ ROMs to view the CPC+ images. This means using the ROMs and not just selecting the "Plus" features in WinAPE. See the two attached images below for more details!

Yeah, no! I meant to change my original viewer code, but I was onto Volume 6 before I realised I had forgotten to do it! ^_^ Sorry!
In WinAPE, CTRL+F9 or on real hardware, CTRL+SHFT+ESC (for those images that don't use rasters! Otherwise, use off/on! Sorry!)

Yes, you are correct!
ADEPTUS.+, EINSTEIN.+ (Green Screen), SHAYLA.+, PARADR90.+, ZYBERSCR.+ are dual palette (ie work on CPC+ and CPCnorm) and RAVEN.+, SEXY-TS.+, YODA.+, NO-CLOUD.+, GROOVY.+, LLOHAN.+ are CPC+ exclusive images (ie they will "reset" the computer if viewed on a CPCnorm).

See above.

The C64 reworks were always meant to show that it's the IMAGE that's important, not the palette! It's just a shame that sarcasm/irony is almost impossible to convey textually! I meant no disrespect to both the C64 and my beloved CPC in "said thread", but my ignorance proved too great... and it was too late to change anything (ie the thread was posted in "retro" websites!)

As I haven't changed my viewer program, I prefer the other volumes to be RUN" only. Each image has it's own story/reason for me recolouring it. However, I have no time to discuss/release those reasons! ^_^

Pure profanation!  ;)

I can overlook your degeneracy, because despite the horrible horses, it's amusing.

I haven't seen these yet, and I've just started to go through them.
Still admiring the C64 Reworks set... the "Fyrebyrd" picture is absolutely stunning. WOW.
