Now that's a most impressive video showing a Shadow-of-the-Beast demo(level) on the CPCplus.

Great work. Indeed much better than the ST version.
(It's only a demo, not a full game, I know, but surely this game was very graphics intensive so such a smooth demo does tell something.)

Here's the direct link to the CPC+ demo video: https://youtube.com/watch?v=CPCyF71098o

I'm affraid that I cannot release it when finished because of copyright reasons (see what append to game from Batman Group)... ???  :o
So now, it's more than "A proof of concept" of GX-4000 and CPC+ capacity (actually I used 64ko of memory and ASIC chipset only) and I'ven't finished it for this reason...at this time but maybe on my next hollidays I will add some more part (Real music played with DMA will be a nice thing to do) ! And of course, if a graphist artist want to do new graphics and game design (level, etc.), I think that It can be done...
I am currently mixed on the fact of making a version very close to the original or an identical version in the spirit but with graphics / music different for these reasons of copyrights ...

Targhan

Great work! But really, I'm pretty sure that releasing a game on CPC will not give you any copyright issues, as long as you don't make billions off it...

Yeah Targhan,

I don't think the CPC scene these days will generate large amounts of cash for any game.

Displaying on the opening screen something along the lines of this - "This is Shadows of the Beasts (or whatever) a PD tribute to the classic Shadow of the Beast released by Psygnosis in 1989" might help avoid problems.
Also use a LARGE font for PD :D

Aside from Nintendo, who issue take downs on anything even vaguely similar to their titles, I think most games companies turn a blind eye to retro remakes of old games for equally old systems. It's not like there is any money to be made.

Look at the likes of Rick Dangerous 128+, BB4CPC, Ghost and Goblins GX, R-Type 128 etc.

megachur

Thanks for your moral support : I will restart the development of this game soon (I hope ;-)) as I can.  ;D
