Whilst MAME happily accepts CPC+ cartridges in the crt and bin file format, I can't feed a disk to the CPC+ emulation, it seems.

Is it possible at all?

I've not used Mame, but at a guess you probably need to supply it with both a system cartridge and a disk image. That would be because a real Plus machine can't start up without a cartridge in it (that's where the firmware, BASIC etc exist)

Great, that's the solution.
Thank you very much, Andycadley !

Interesting, and this whole CPC+ concept is new to me.

So when for CPC+ machines in order to do something, you need to insert the System Cartridge containing the OS (lower OS, BASIC, Amsdos) and this Burning-Rubber game, where is the OS then when you insert a game only cartridge?
It's not there, unless it was included in the game cartridge.

Meaning, does the CPC+ machines contains no ROM anymore (except the System Cartridge if that counts as a ROM) ?
Yes, no roms in the CPC+ machine. The system cartridge is just a big ROM.

And if so, do these cartridge games because of the missing OS ROM have to interact with the CPC chips directly, like we did back in the good old days with our games and demos?
Yep.

This isn't really as big a deal as it might sound though, most ordinary CPC games also shove the entire system out of the way and talk directly to the hardware anyway so there is very little difference overall.

Especially since the disk firmware, by virtue of it being a cartridge game, is not really needed.
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

Yes indeed.
