Head over Heels, obviously...

Seriously, this game is so deep, so cute and really makes full use of the Mode1.. with numerous palette changes along the game.
Also a lot of extra sounds effects (in 128K I guess) and so on.

But this is just great:

DRILLER
I never really liked DRILLER... or DARK SIDE either, for that matter; personally I preferred these two FREESCAPE games.

Castle Master (& The Crypt)

Oh yes, Castlemaster! Indeed I agree.

Hmmm.... no youtube link for Skyfox, so....

let me provide this one meanwhile :)))

Earp... only crap on youtube. We need a good Starglider video!

Now... damn! All Mode 1 games I remember are missing there, now take this ;-)

Switchblade! Yes, very good one. Also Stryker was not bad.

EDIT: Watched that Dizzy video, a great game, but the GFX would need improovement, looks like a speccy port. What a pity, that they don't use all four Mode 1 colors in all GFX, monochrome is monotone ;-)

Another one of my stupid lists... but it's based on the games I owned as a kiddie... (I think they're all MODE 1)

Spellbound (for the music and Florin The Dwarf!)
Hero Quest
Spindizzy
Mach 3
Blasteroids
The Blues Brothers
Manic Miner
Jet Set Willy 2 (The Final Frontier) (The proper 134 room version ONLY!)
Chuckie Egg 2
Hotshot
Joe Blade (collection)
Midnight Resistance
Thanatos
One Man And His Droid
Ranarama
Shadow Of The Beast
Twinworld
The Vindicator
Wriggler (by Romantic Robot)

Stryker and the Crypts of Trogan is a good game too, its basically the same engine as Switchblade though.

[Amstrad Cpc] Striker in the crypts of Trogan longplay 1/4

How could I forget Spindizzy? Ranarama is another decent game, Blues Brothers is ok but its way too blue, needs a better colour scheme.

And Black Land, I know somebody is working on a walk through ;-)

Thundercat ? are you Craaaazy ?

Thundercat is far from being a really awesome Mode1 game.

I mean, gameplaywise, not that playable (quite fast anyway), also bad implementation of the colours with sprites and so on.

Ok, perhaps some rarely seen Raster effect... but otherwise I wasn't that much impressed.

Why not count Duckula while we're at it ? ;D

TFM

Actually, your video is neither in Mode 1, nor CPC related. You will be banned for five relative units into the nameless zone.  :P

I enjoy Twin World and Midnight Resistance, though another nice looking Mode 1 game is Zeppelins Monument.

* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D   * with the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

It's a nice little game, although it's not in the same level that the one of the Bollaware's masterpiece ;)

To be honest I only discovered Monument the other day by luck (CPC-Power had it come up as a random screenshot). Though I'll check out Shark as well!  :)
These games work well with the clever use of White & Grey with a 3rd colour to give it body. The little character in Monument probably could have had a little bit of Grey added to it, otherwise they stand out and the backdrops are well drawn.

MacDeath

Hell yeah, Deflektor was also a massive solid gold bar.

How to be a complete basterd : is it good ?
It doesn't look bad... but I haven't played it.

Gryzor

Wow, some great offerings here for me to play tomorrow... thanks, guys!

You're beginning to write like MacDeath!

MacDeath would have been a powerful voice if he  had a column in AA back on the 80s :D
