I remember first time I saw Jet Set Willy, and loving the title-music.
It took many years before I realised that it was actually the classical piece of music "Moonlight Sonata" that was playing, and that I apparently liked classical music then.
I also loved the highscore tune in Space Harrier, which is actually "Bach a la Jazz".
Manic Miner uses two classical tracks. (What are they called?)
What other CPC games uses what other classical music?
I was a big Sabre Wulf fan. The title music is Bach's Prelude in C.
Bryce.
Airwolf 2 somewhere in game.
At least sounds classic ;D
Atahualpa with maurice ravel's boléro

1001 BC, A Mediterranean Odyssey is from Vivaldi.
Manic Miner uses the Blue Danube in the title screen, and Edvard Grieg's In The Hall Of The Mountain King.
Technician Ted uses Radetzky March by Johan Strauss Sr.
There are some others but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
Does anyone know what the music is on Tempest's title screen?
[EDIT] Ooh! 1000th post! 8)
A thread about classical music, and not one mention of the elite title screen

Same as Manic Miner title screen, only better. :)
Jet Set Willy - Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata
Dynamite Dan - Mozart's Turkish Rondo
Lemmings - LOADS AND LOADS! Including Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Mirlitons (The Nutcracker), Pachelbel's Canon and Mozart's Turkish Rondo (again!)
I think this thread (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/other-retro/music-plagiarism-in-classic-videogames-(all-platforms-included)/) has a few other examples, too!

Dynamite Dan - Mozart's Turkish Rondo
Also on Brainstorm.
Does Vangelis count as classical? If so, it was the title music of Daley Thompsons Decathalon.
Bryce.
Edit: The music itself was called Chariots of Fire, not Vangelis.
Since Vangelis has been mentioned, there's the Blade Runner in game music. I'm not sure if this concrete piece of music is originally Vangelis, but is sure sounds like him.
Kane : valkyrie (Wagner) ^^

The Blade Runner 8-bit game is actually based on the MUSIC for the film and not the FILM itself due to licensing issues!
There's Tchaikovsky in Winter Games, figure skating.
Toccata and Fugue from Johann Sebastian Bach, in Friday the 13th

If Vangelis counts then we have Barbarian too.
What about the music in "Arabian Nights"?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_tEwmzpugY
Is that also a classical piece?
Sorcery: Paul Dukas - "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"
The Apprentice: Greensleeves
Orphée: J.S. Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor
Elite: Johann Strauss II - The Blue Danube Waltz
Mermaid Madness: Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker: Dance Of The Mirlitons

I believe Blagger is "Black and White Rag" by Winifred Atwell.

I liked running the streets in Blade Runner, I didn't understand much or get anywhere. Still it was a good experience at the time because of the music

Hm, sounds a lot like Bach. His style is usually very distinctive, compare it to parts of the Goldberg Variations or the Brandenburg Concertos for example. Someone with a deeper knowledge of his works might know it (or that I'm in fact wrong and it's someone else's work.)

Yes, the gameplay was frustrating and I also kept playing a lot longer than I would have just because of the music. You had to chase the darn androids, just like in the movie's chase scene. I never saw anything beyond the streets, so either I've been bad at it, or there was nothing more to it.

Try the Speccy beeper only version. No music there

I don't have a "deeper knowledge" of Bach, but I do listen to a lot of classical music...
Tempest title music is Handels "The arrival of the queen of Sheba". A really great piece to hear live from a full orchestra.
Bryce.

Good find! Then I was wrong after all.
Nah, Vangelis is far from classical!
But, IIRC Powerplay had some classical music:
Unfortunately, I can't find a video where it's audible...
I just downloaded the Powerplay: The Game of the Gods DSK (from CPCPower) and ran it on Winape. The title music is Tchaikovskys "Dance of the sugarplum fairy" (From the Nutcracker ballet).
Bryce.
Thanks, haven't played it in a few years but I remember sitting and listening to it when I was a child.
Gameover of Space Harrier but i don't remember the author...
Weird, I would have sworn that the Powerplay title music was In The Hall Of The Mountain King... maybe I had a different version?
Edit: checked it and it's definitely ItHotMH, sorry Bryce!

Oh, you're right. It does seem to be that. The two pieces have very similar sections of music. Sorry Grieg :)
Bryce.

"Dance of the sugarplum fairy" is used in Mermaid Madness though. :)
So... been watching Monty Python on Netflix these past few weeks, and got curious about the theme-melody.
Long story short:
The loading music in Harvey Headbanger tape version is "The Liberty Bell" march from 1893!
