So I just got an LCD TV to try and reduce the number of monitors I have, I noticed that when using the LCD with Dick Tracy on cartirdge many of the sprites end up with bits missing, this doesn't happen on a CM14 monitor, anyone know why this would happen?

I've got this problem with certain cart files, some sprite corruption on (big) LCD TV but ok on CM14.  I'm connected via scart from the GX4000.  I've not experimented with RF or different screen types / sizes etc.  Advice to the cause would be great!

That's a dick tracy original cartridge issue.

I've fixed the one distributed with the C4CPC

Cool that is super gerald what was the issue and what causes it on an lcd but not on an original monitor? Is the fixed file available to download? Are any of the other cart games like this that you are aware of

Yes, knowledge of the fix please  :D

Note, specifically how does the LCD TV factor in?  Is the fix just making sure the ASIC variables are set to zero on initialisation?

gerald

I've been digging a bit and it looks like I did not fix Dick Tracy (or lost it :picard: )
However I've fixed
- No Exit (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/cpc-plus-cartridge-replacement-one-more/msg96343/#msg96343)
- Pro tennis court ( http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/cpc-plus-cartridge-replacement-one-more/msg96357/#msg96357)
For Dick tracy, the fix would be to initialise the asic coordinates.

Now why its working on the CM14 and not on the LCD.
My guess is that you use the CM14 supply with the CM14 and an external supply wit hthe LCD.  That can make a difference for initialised HW.

gerald

Can anyone have the problem test this one ?

tjohnson

Thanks gerald I'll burn a rom and try it, are your able to share the other ones you fixed  my copy of no exit often doesn't start.

No exit fixed version is attached to this thread :

I do not think I've posted the Pro tennis court fixed one, so here it is.

A software method for identifying the power supply?

Your no exit fix works great, my genuine cart has an issue starting, I've attached the file, it seems very slightly different from another version I downloaded, a couple of minor changes, no idea why.I haven't had a chance to try dick tracy but hope to soon.
