I used to enjoy playing Elite.
Were there any other CPC games that involved trading with combat sequences?

First of all enjoy Starglider, then Starfox, then ... there is much more on CPC-Power

I haven't really played it myself, but Empire! by Firebird is supposed to be similar to Elite.
