I've just seen this ad on gumtree.com.au

http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Stuff-for-Sale-computers-software-other-computers-software-Amstrad-Game-Tapes-x-26-W0QQAdIdZ295062537

I haven't got my disk drive working yet, and I haven't really had time to try, but I do have  few cassette players sitting in boxes somewhere. I might make the guy an offer, if only to save them. Any ideas what would be a reasonable offer? I've emailed the guy, asking for a complete list of game titles.

I doubt that there would be anything too special amongst them, but you never know.

Those mostly look like Amsoft games,
personally I wouldn't buy tapes just for the sake of preservation, sure maybe there is a little of that but I mostly buy tapes so I can play them.

Although I'd hate to see tapes just thrown in the bin.

The guy who posted the ad replied with a list of the games :

The List of all the titles are Batman, Roland in Time, Roland on the Ropes, Terminus, Bridge-it, Roland on the Run, Geoff Capes Strongman, Roland in Space, Roland on the Ropes, Oh Mummy, Harrier Attack, Electro Freddy, Pitman Typing Tutor, Roland Goes Digging, Rolland Goes Square Bashing, Roland Goes Digging, Rasterscan, Gems of Stradus, Roland in the Cave, Think, Roland Ahoy, Laserwarp, Haunted Hedges, (Dragons Lair, Escape from Singers Castle), (Combat Lynx, Air Wolf), Last one is Boulder Dash which is on a non original tape.

: There doesn't seem to be anything to exciting there, I might make him a small offer, and see what he says. At least I could play something on my CPC then, at the rate I get projects finished, it will be ages before I get a disk drive/HxC or anything working.

A little off topic, but I have scanned in an issue of The Amstrad User magazine, which I'll upload when I get around to it, since I only see cover pages on the wiki page. It only took me 6 mths to scan it.

Gryzor

Amstrad User? But this was a diskzine?

Amstrad Computer User (ACU), on the other hand, has already been archived. Or you mean something else?

Terje_Norway

Hi,

"The Amstrad User" magazine ? ? ?

Could I guess that we are talking about the Australian / New Zealand magazine published by Strategy Publications from 1985-1990 ? ? ?

Just a wild guess ! ! !

Yep, that is the one 'The Amstrad User' magazine, published by Strategy Publications. I have perhaps a dozen issues, and not many of them are sequential, which is a shame, but I'll scan what I have. Unless they are archived somewhere, but I've only been able to find the covers.

Gryzor

Ah indeed, I haven't seen them scanned anywhere. It'd be really interesting, so thanks! Though maybe you should get some help? At this rate it would take six years :)

Russkie

Hehe, hopefully each mag won't take 6 mths. It didn't actually take that long to scan, it was all the real life stuff, like moving house, that got in the way. I'll upload the one I have done, and try and make a start on the next one.

Is there a tutorial or something with details of how to upload a magazine, or should I just put it online somewhere like megaupload and let somebody else take care of it?
