Title: Jim Power
Post by: ukmarkh on 23:05, 06 May 09
Hi all, Has anyone managed to load Jim power past the first level... would love to play this game again, but don't have the original anymore. For some reason it just hangs after completing the first level, any ideas???

I know Cholo did a YouTube vid and must have had the same problem because he only played to the end of the first level.

Help???

Yes, I have a working disc image somewhere. I'll find it and provide a link.

Hi chap, just wondering if you'd had any luck finding Jim Power?

Also, I'm trying to right a techy article about the CPC's scrolling and sprites, any chance I could run it past you? It's for the book I'm currently doing.

I think the one on Phenixinformatique works fully. I tested it with Winape and it runs past any of the other version ive had.

The other versions i tried was all badly cracked versions so all i got to record at the time was lvl 1. I recall the original game has some gap protection that a normal Dsk cant handly (was a long thread about it). This one plays nicely in Winape.

Virtually impossible to play it on a PC keyboard, how do I get a joystick to work?

P.S.: Don't regard "monitor noise" @ beginning! I will use that for a special emulation mode later...

Ok, well I perservered with the PC keyboard and managed to kill the boss at the end of level one, level two works fine but the boss managed to kill me ta death. So thank you for all your hard work. Those .DSK files you've got, will they work on a real to life CPC if I were to copy them to a 3.5" disk???

It's unlikely, unless the latest versions of SamDisk/CPCDiskXP can write the correct gap bytes on track 39 or 40 (whichever has the protection). You'd probably have better luck with a cracked version, but not the one that won't load the second level properly.

You can use Joy2Key, I attached a ZIP with Joy2Key and a config file for JavaCPC.

Thank god for that, I can normally ace this game on a real CPC... but under emulation, using my PC keyboard, I can't get past the 3rd level  :(

I love what you've done with the emulator by the way, being able to run games from the CPCGamereviews website, booting straight into FutureOS or Symbos and the many other features are very cool. Thanks for all your hard work dude!

you should take a look at Phenix informatique site below :

http://www.phenixinformatique.com/CPCGAMES/index.php?page=lastupdate

type the name of the game you want, we have most of them, and much much more games in original
than any other site on the net for amstrad CPC.

make your choice :D
