Hi All,
Can anyone point me to a DSK version of the Tape version of Mercenary? The compendium version with Targ & The Second City is a 128K version, there is a DSK image of the 464 Tape version kicking around on the 'tinternet with just Targ but the Text that Benson outputs ingame is corrupted and output random characters.

Just wondered if anyone has a pointer to a different one that is not corrupted.

There's a CDT of it knocking around on CPCRulez (I'm assuming also on CPC-Power)

You *could* try running it through the Bonzo utilities and converting it to DSK?
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

Hi thanks for the help i'll have another go at transferring my tape to .DSK again.

I've done enough tapes to disk using the Bonzo utils over the years, so if you can get me a clean audio of the file, I can transfer to cdt and probably bust it to disk.

There is a CDT on CPC Power - How does this Bonzo work then???

Basically, it loads the game in bits. Say, a speedlock game for example

it loads the first two blocks into memory, then spits them back out to the disk.
Same with the loading screen.
Same with the main game.

Then the system resets with your files on the disk.

So if you ran the program in an emulator, such as Winape, then when Bonzo loads, insert the cdt when prompted for the tape, and then make sure you insert a new blank disk image into the drive a: it should work.

I can try it with the CDT in about an hour or so once I get home from work.

I've had no joy converting this over so far. It seems to be a weird version of Speedlock where the tools for v85, v86 and v87 won't do the job.
Soft-Lok isn't proving any joy either, but I've still a few more things to try, so let me keep hammering at it.

Try this version that I transferred and compressed from my own CDT dump this evening. :) Note that you can still only save games to cassette.

Nicely done as always, Nich!

Thanks, i will try that tonight. If i get a RAM expansion for this 464 of mine i wouldn't have this probelm.

It's frustrating though, never enough money now i have been forced to retire due to my disability, but it is what it is i cannot change it.

Thanks Nich, it works a treat - no corrupted text on the computer. I just need to find some C15's to save the progress  :D
I haven't forgot about the other - just waiting on a couple things.
