Does anyone know of any games besides Stunt Car Racer that enabled mouse control?

Xyphoe

Imagine if Prohibition worked on the AMX mouse!  :o :o :o
Or B.A.T.!

kawickboy

operation wolf & thunderbolt, mortville manor... a mouse support would be great.
b.a.t first i'll prefer a music patch instead of mouse support.

zeropolis79

Mouse patch would be good for Lemmings and Hero Quest too

Brainstorm (programmed by the same author, Pete Cooke) supports the AMX mouse.

Bryce

They may not officially have supported mice, but the AMX really just acts as a joystick and doesn't need drivers, so any Joystick game could be used with an AMX mouse.

It does indeed and Lemmings in particular works very well with it!

Thanks - will try that when I record my video..

I remember that "Academy - Tau Ceti II" had an impressive (for the time) cursor-based menu.
You could select "AMX mouse" control in the preferences. It seemed so modern, I wished I had one :)

PS : Interestingly, the author is also Pete Cooke

Hello
Can 'any' game which involves moving a cursor with the joystick be controlled with the AMX ?
I believe then the cursor moves at a fixed speed, or how did they do this trick ?
Is such a mouse implemented in an emulator ?
You could also try 'molecularr', a type-in which uses a pointer.

A joystick compatible mouse (AMX) works like a joystick. The difference is that the joystick does switch a signal on permanently. And the mouse provides pulses having increasing number with increasing speed.
In the result such a mouse it dead slow when being used with joystick games, so for most of the time the game will be unplayable. Or is has a mouse option.

Not quite. If the mouse is moved quick enough then the signal is essentially held on just like a joystick ie: everytime the CPC checks the input a pulse is present.

Sure, but how big is your desk?  ;)

:D It all depends on how the firmware (on modern AMX adapters) is configered. It's possible to configure my adapter to 1 screenwidth = 1mm which would be way too sensitive for OCPArt, but probably better for gaming. But I agree with you that a game where the player permanently moves in one direction would be annoying with a mouse because you'd have to keep bringing it back across the desk.

That is - actually - a very good point.  :) IIRC I got one of your adaptors too, how can I configurate it?
