I agree.
Personally, I prefer unused area of the screen to be set to black.

Also it looks like almost fullscreen, is this true?
By the way, great job! Looks awesome already!

yeah, as other mentionned, it is not good to have the feeling thing disappear or appear from nowhere.
If you don't aim at fullscreen game, don't fake it, it will gain in clarity and player's focus.

Also I see others are agreeing with me on this one... perhaps let the option to set border so if some player want it green... but Black by default is always best.

For me personally, I would rather have the full screen effect, but as mentioned, it would be good to have both as an option. By the way, that Kick Off game on the ST was amazing back in the day, until Sensi came out and then I didn’t play it.

Looking at that Atari ST version of Kickoff, I wonder if that is the best way to simulate a pitch with a hardware vertical scroll. Then you would just undraw the pitch lines and redraw them at the new positions to get 1 pixel smooth scroll movement in the horozontal that can have a variable speed. The players could be compiled sprites for a fast update as well. It would certainly make a fluid game. With clever programming it could run at 50fps.

The 1st Kick Off didn't have a such well-designed ball.
4 players mode with toto hardware ?

Myself I do like the full screen effect. I choose to ignore the 'appear by magic' side-effect, it really looks better to me that way!
