I hope so too! Judging by the pictures on the Genesis8 news page, it would complement my recently purchased copies of the Psytronik games and Orion Prime nicely. ;D (By the way, I was only responsible for correcting Tom et Jerry's English translation of the instructions for the game, not the text on the back of the inlay!)

TomEtJerry

Hi,

Well Nich, I hope the inlay text is not too bad :-). It made laught many sceners at the Coutances Meeting, I don't understand why :-).

A nyway, the game may be available tomorrow in .DSK format.

T&J/GPA

Gryzor

I want!!!!! So where could one get it??

TomEtJerry

Hi,

You can now download the .DSK release here :

http://tj.gpa.free.fr

Have a nice play :-).

T&j/GPA

Gryzor

Yeees, but what about the physical release? Hmmmm?

TomEtJerry

Hi,

Well, for the moment, no physical distribution (excepted for the people who have participated to the game).

We will see later if there is a way to sell it in a way that is not too time consumming for us... You should have come to the Coutances meeting, like Voxfreax or Optimus :-)).

T&J/GA

Gryzor

Nahhh I was washing my hair that night!

Keep us posted if you do release it, will you?

In the meantime, any pieces left that I could bribe you for?

CPCIak

Thanx a lot to Tom&Jerry for making Color Lines public :)

TomEtJerry

Sorry Gryzor, no one left at the moment. If it can comfort you, I even don't have a copy for me :-).

MacDeath

I'm happy I made a crap skin for it, so I can get it... :P

let's check this, also we'll have to put a poll to vote for the best skin...

CPCIak

If you don't want to release further copies, what do you think about making the artwork public? So everyone could print out the cover and stickers for his own needs.

Or even for rick 128+... ;)

Ok, i tested the game..
This is really quite a dick tive...er... addictive.

Liked the rastered kalachnikov intro.

Lots of skins, and lots of very sweet music actually.

Perhaps a jukebox mode option would be great just to listen to musics without actually playing ???

Concerning the skins, it has a lot of variety.
Of course the Mode0 can't enable fine finely detailed stuff, but it is really coloured (of course...)

Some skins may be a bit messy actually (not enough contrast)... and IMO, some skin are not that easy to play.

The pawns , when sharing the same design, need to get the most varied colour scheme, or else this gets tricky...as CPC's palette has a lot of semi-similar colours.
But it must be better on a real CPC screen (will try when I get the disk...)
And it is good to have a good contrast between background and pawns...

Must be a hell on a monochrome monitor though.

I was well surprised that some peoples choose a non-black colour for the Background/border of the screen.

And some fonts are really great (mine was simplistic and rushed...lol).

I was quite impressed by Supersly's skin in that when you select a pawns, it is like it is removed from the board...very sweet idea, almost add some sort of animation and volume/relief...

My own skin being number 8, I was pleased...
8 is the number of chaos (octogon cross)... was it on purpose ?

I was also pleased to ssee my skin was displaying not the worse playability...I tried to get quite different shapes and colours...
But I was a bit disapointed by the messy look of my blue daemonette.

By the way, a nice game in overall, fun, and a lot of great and varied graphics and musics...
Were all those tunes writen especially for the game ?

Skin List :

1)  DIX HELL / CED
2)  PURPLE WAVE / CED
3)  RUST IN PEACE / ELDRIK
4)  GAMMA RAY / ELDRIK
5)  POWERSLAVE / ELDRIK
6)  SANCTUARIUM /   ELDRIK
7)  BRICKS / FANO
8)  CHAOS / MAC DEATH*
9)  AUTUMN   FLAVOUR /NORI

Hi,

That's clear that the game can't be played on a monochronous monitor   (shame on you, GT65 user, you could participate to create a skin... ).   Some skins are not easy to play with, even on a real CPC :-). But that's   artists' choices, not mine.

And for the Jukebox, Eldrik had the same idea, but not enough disk   space. And a game is not a musicdisk :-). All music have been done for the game (hard job :-( ), except "Lonely robot" by Ultrasyd. You can find it inside the Arkos Trakker betas.

CPCiak, if we can't find another way to spread the game with a   packaging, I suppose we will make an archive will the documentation, the   inlay and the stickers.  And we cannot pack the crystal box inside :-   ). Be patient and keep courage :-).

Hi T&J. 8)

Quoteshame on you, GT65 user, you could participate to create a skin...
Supersly did a skin though...(he's quite a specialist in Monochrome monitor on CPC...is he not ?)
But hey, a game named color lines is clearely not designed for a Monochrome !

Well, you can still put the game to play the music, but getting a still picture on those old monitors is not a clever idea, unless you put a "screen saver"...

TFM

@Tom & Jerry! I like your cracks, but I love your game! Great work!! Well done!!! And every day of the 10 years worth to wait for.

So many musics, I wasn't used to that on a CPC... ;)

Yet again, the only 3 channels can't enable getting sounds AND musics...I really should try to concieve an additionnal AY soundcard...when I'll see if the FPGA-based ACID erzatz work...

I don't think I've ever seen a screen saver on cpc.

A starfield maybe? Or the 3D text showing CPC-related words and names? Or maybe lots of colored Amstrad logos flying towards you?

I don't think it'd be so hard :) Well, apart from the 3D text.

yes a screensaver is not hard to write, but I don't remember seeing one in a game or utility.
