Very good, just downloaded it and copied it to a couple of disks.  Not played it on a plus machine but the game seems great on 6128.

A thousand thankyous!

I hope everyone enjoys the game! I'll have limited internet over the next few weeks, so if there are any bug reports or questions I may not reply promptly - please bear with me!

If the game seems bugfree in a few weeks I will try to release parados 2 disk (2x360) and 1 disk (1x720) versions for the HxC users.

Hi Keith,

It's not working for me in WinApe! :O

First profile with 6128 Plus (without Parados) and 64k + 256k RAM Expansion, it seems to load up fine, but when starting the game as Chibi after redefining keys, the game froze on this screen (see attached) but with music playing.

I reset and tried different profile (eg 6128 Plus with Parados and 128k memory), but same issue.... however each time it skips the intro sequence and starts the game immediately from the menu like I did a fire button key press... but I haven't. Weird?!

Help!

keith56

The game was developed with winape
I would guess the game is paused - Does it work if you play with default keys?

What are you setting player 2's controls to? the game reads both even in 1 player mode - it's arcade style - player 2 can join in at any time!

You haven't turned Multiplay support on have you? the game will go nuts if you do and don't have one!

I'm halfway through sorting that out... looks like you write the settings saved to the disk file, so it seems it's knackered for me now. I've got a fresh copy of Disk1 and going to try with default keys.

Because yea... the only thing I did was change the keys first (cursor keys, Left Ctrl for fire L, Left Alt for fire R, Space for special weapon ... and I think for player 2 I did the sacrilege of using WASD :P and J,K,L for the firing).

keith56

There's a settings file which is created on the disk, you can just delete it and everything will reset (i think it's called settings.v02)

Yea that's working now!

Any idea why it doesn't like those key combos?
No, I can't think of one, I edited the original post while you were replying with the following bits:
You didn't turn on multiplay support did you? what did you set the pause buttons to?

If you have the problem again, please send me the disk1 image via email and I will troubleshoot.

Sure! Attached is the problematic Disc1 for me!

I think I set the pause buttons to "P" (P1) and "H" (P2).

I don't know what you mean by 'multiplay support' so I guess not!  :P

Xyphoe

I've managed to play through to the final battle...

It's f****** great Keith!!! Love it! Well done mate!

Seeing as it's Halloween, I'll more than likely do a short live stream of it on YouTube this evening. Probably either 7 or 8pm (BST).

keith56

I don't know what happened, multiplay was switched on, and when I turned it off, the keys were mapped weird - Multiplay is TotO's joystick device - trouble is if support is enabled when it's not there all the fires fire all the time, so the game starts then instantly pauses (and keeps pausing)

I tried, and succeeded to set the keys you describe in winape - so I'm a bit puzzled

If anyone else has the problem, please report the keys you used.

The multiplay option is on the settings menu, I can only assume some kind of memory corruption occurred messing up the settings data, but I don't see why that would happen - I'll check over my code.

I hope you had 256k enabled for the final battle, so you got all the animation (there's no background animation on the 128k version)

The last boss is pretty tough, I'll give you a clue - your fire only affects it during one of the 3 stages - so stay out the way for the rest!

Also remember, the jokes are all different if you play as Bochan, or as Chibiko+Bochan!

Hey Keith! Could you tell us more about all the different things (or PM me) like the differences in choosing Plus rather than CPC, 256k instead of 128k/64k, etc and any special content or whatever! Would like to talk about it on the stream this evening! Cheers!

Looking forward to that! Will you be playing on real hardware or emulation? Would be really really great to see it all on a real machine with 256 kB memory

keith56

Pretty sure Xyphoe does all his stuff on emulation in Winape with screen capture - as it's so much easier and reliable to stream!

You can always buy a Z-Mem from TotO for the Full-Chibi experience!
Testing the game on plain old 6128 sucked after seeing the last boss battle with 256k!!!

ANYONE else who has control problems like Xyphoe please let me know! I can't release a one disk version until I know the current one is bug free!

also, I do not have a CPC CRT, could someone with a proper monitor report if the "Screen shake" effect on levels 4/5 boss causes the screen to roll? it works OK on winape, but my TFT goes nuts! (for those who don't know, it can be disabled in the settings)
