Hi

I recently acquired a copy of Trivial Pursuit on disc but I can't see how to launch it.

From my experience of other commercial discs, it is unreadable to Basic but if you give it the right command it loads and runs. I only have the disc itself, not the instructions, so can anyone tell me the load / run command I need please?

type CAT to list the files in the directory.
Then you can choose one to RUN"
Or you may need to run it with |CPM (shift + @ on a UK keyboard)

I have it on disc and it says (in rather large text) on the disc: To run the program type RUN "DISC"

You should have 2 discs though. Unless mine was an extended version?

Bryce.

Thanks Bryce.

My disc says nothing about how to run it - it just has a TP logo on it with a yellow background.
CAT has no effect, it acts like a corrupt disc. But then, so does the Tetris disc, until you type RUN "TETRIS", then it works.

I'll try it out and report back.

In my experience most will give you a list of files with CAT, or even just one, or a nice graphical display.
Only few give a read error when using CAT and those are launched with |CPM.
It sounds like you have a lot of corrupt discs, or a dodgy disc drive.

OR are you running PCW discs on a CPC???

|CPM kicked it off, but it dies half way through loading. Corrupted I think.... Pity.. But never mind, I bought it for the disc, not the stupid game!

TFM

Oh, you just need an empty disc for format?

...would you mind to give info about what version exactly of TP do you own? I found that there's several editions out there, such as Genus, Genus II, Baby Boomer, A New Beginning and Young Players edition...

JonB

Label just has the TP logo on it, no specific edition. Plus Horn Abbot (copyright holders) and Domark (developer) logos. It must be an early basic edition.
