Hi,

Is there a way to reset the high scores (World Records) on the disc version?

Metr

As far as I know, only by resetting the game to restore the default world records :/

I´m not sure if I remember well, but my first thought was that I simply deleted the file with the highscores. Then Wintergames wrote a new, reset table...

I only remember my bobsledge record at the COM-II, they had problems to get me out of their high-score ;-)

Hey... this it my post 999 !!! !!! !!! Perfect number, isn't it? ;D

I found two hidden files, RECORDS.BIN and RECORDS.BAK. When I deleted them, I got the message "Insert disk A". If I press a key, I can see a message about "records.bin not found" (it is only shown for a short moment), and then I'm being asked yet again for disk A.
So deleting RECORDS.BIN is not working.

Oh well, I guess I have to work hard to beat the records...

Devilmarkus

Perhaps write a new, empty "RECORDS.BIN" file?

1001 posts looks even better :)

ah winter games many hours spent trying to get a perfect score on each event but i don't think it was possible.  Does anyone know if it was possible to get perfect scores on each event ?

Maybe we could have a winter games open challenge where there's no time or day limit and we just play to see what we can achieve and post screen shots of our scores.... it really was hard going as i recall.

O'yes, that worked!
I deleted the files,

|era,"records.*"

and created a new one using

openout("records.bin"):print#9,chr$(0);:closeout

And behold! the records are nice and clean again, ready to be broken into pieces...
Thanks for the tip!  ;D

This would be a good thing to put in a wiki article about the game ;)
I am happy that it worked.

I wished California games was as good.

yeah california games turned out quite average for cpc.  epyx published titles I found to be poor on cpc.

i just read this on wikipedia - but i think its c64 version easter eggs

Easter eggsCalifornia Games contains a number of

  • On some random occasions, there is an earthquake during the skateboarding event, causing the H of theHollywood sign to fall down (The remaining "OLLYWOOD" might also be a reference to the ollie skateboarding trick.)

  • Players can hit the seagull (named 'George') in Footbag. Hitting the gull grants more points.

  • A shark or a dolphin or a seagull occasionally appears in Surfing after a player falls off the board. If the shark comes the iconic theme from Jaws plays briefly.

  • When practicing Flying Disc, if the player repeatedly fails in his attempts to throw the disc, a UFO appears and abducts the catcher.
