Hi! I'm a new CPC464 user, I just bought one and I've got two questions

At first: I prefer REAL hardware at all, so is there a way to write .CDT or .TZX files on a blank cassette tape for using with the cassette tape deck of CPC464? I've got many blank cassette tapes still sealed! So i could use them...

The second question is: what's the best way for speeding up the loading time of tapes?

I hope you can give me an answer, thank you very much!

Hi Bomb jack (that name was still free??),
Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your newly acquired CPC. The way to convert a CDT to a real tape can be read here: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Converting_tape_images_%28.CDT/.TZX%29_for_use_on_a_real_Amstrad_CPC_computer

There's no reliable way to speed up tape loads, so my advice would be: Get a disk drive.

Bryce.

Hello Bomb Jack,
perhaps the tool I coded once can help you here:
CDT2WAV
http://cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php/topic,605.msg6291.html#msg6291

It converts CDT files to WAV files and you can also playback them.
So, I think its possible to connect your PC to a cassette recorder and record the WAV playback.
This is a possibility to record WAV tapes to real tapes.

I wish you luck!

Cheers,
Markus

Welcome.

Others have suggested good ways to get the CDT files onto real cassettes.
These solutions will work well for all CDT.

You may have some luck with "OTLA"
http://code.google.com/p/otla/

But this will really only work if the programs use the standard block loader.

Suitable candidates are games modified to load in a single file by cngsoft.

Other ways to speed up are to get a disc drive, or to go and do something else, like have a nice cup of tea.
