Hi all,
As my topic title states, I'm from Scotland and i'm saying hello.

I've just recently bought a CPC 6128 and two monitors from someone on the facebook amstrad pages and they are resting with a friend who lives down south (and travels to Scotland frequently). Both the monitors have issues with them that need fixing. One has an issue with the h or v-sync I think and the other one has an issue with the 12v power out.
So when I get them home i'll need to have a good look at those.

After I bought the 6128 (which I had as a child in the early 90's with a green screen) I thought I should get a 464 too as it looks like there's a lot of them around and i'd like to experience both.
Also, If I get both monitors working I can have one colour monitor per cpc. So I managed to buy a 464 on ebay the other day and it arrived yesterday. I had a great time opening up the box and plugging it into the TV via scart.

I decided that I was going to record my adventures with my new computers and create a "Geek Cave" (so that my wife isn't annoyed with all my computers and parts kicking about the house). So I hope to share this website and youtube page with you all once I have them all set up.

I'd love to re-learn how to code in BASIC and maybe even learn the assembler language for the CPC (is it different between the 6128 and the 464? or just more memory addresses?). I quite fancy having a go at making some games and maybe some software. Any advice on where to start with that would be great!

I'm also looking to make a few things for the CPC. One of which to allow the use of a 3.5" floppy etc. This website has been a great source of knowledge on what can be done with the CPC so i'm sure you'll see a lot of me in the months and years to come!

ComSoft6128

Looking forward to that!

Next step: Author an issue of 8-bit Memoirs8)

BASIC is mostly the same for the two. The CPC6128 has a few more commands available though.

Most people nowadays are using floppy emulators like the HxC or Gotek. I.e. they're using SD cards. That doesn't mean you can't make your 3.5" floppy drive of course. Just wanted to mention it.

Yeah, cheers. I've seen those for sale. I just want to go back to having disks purely for the sake of it.
I'm also looking to make cassettes for everything too. Again, purely for the sake of it. Part of the fun of owning these old computers. Unless you're an impatient person haha!
I've got grand plans for making a few bits and bobs, But I am going to have to start at the beginning! and not get ahead of myself.
