I would like to say greetings to all CPC fans here.

CPC 6128 has been always in my heart since 1987 when i had the first contact. It was this period when i went to an informatics school of my neighbourhood,
(all students were teenagers) and learned BASIC. It was a computer shop where the owner gave programming lessons (by payment of course).

CPC introduced me to programming, and it was obvious then to me that i wanted to be a software developer.
I followed this route, got my Elec.Eng. & Computer Science degree, used many machines and several languages all these years, finished many projects for work, but for some strange reason I have never felt the enthusiasm I first got when i wrote my first simple program on the CPC.

Welcome to the forums!

Like yourself I started programming with the CPC, and ended up taking it up as a career... I recently came back to the 8 bit machines for a bit of programming, and have to say, I find developing at a 'low level' in ASM far more satisfying than high level languages.

I hope you'll find something in the 'modern' cpc community to keep you interested, and give you some new CPC-based entertainment
Chibi Akumas: Comedy-Horror 8-bit Bullet Hell shooter!
Learn ARM, 8086, Z80, 6502 or 68000 with my tutorials: www.assemblytutorial.com
My Assembly programming book is available now on amazon!

Welcome to the forum!

I also experienced the magic you're talking about, when I was introduced to BASIC on the CPC. And it was also the reason I ended up becoming a Computer Scientist.

I know what you mean about the enthusiasm not at all being the same when developing elsewhere. It helps a little when it's your own projects though, rather than something you have to do for work.

I held on to the CPC all the way up to 1997, and then I started scouting for another platform on which I could develop with the same passion as on the CPC, and hopefully feel the same enthusiasm about it. But I never succeeded in doing that.

Two best alternative platforms I found was Java enabled cellphones and Blu-ray Disc Java. But even then, the enthusiasm is highest when the project is CPC related, like my 8-bit Memoirs project:)

So maybe you could look into creating something CPC related? Maybe a CPC specific sprite-editor for Android, or HTML5. Or your own issue of 8-bit Memoirs.  :)
