Title: Looking for PC software to view CPC screens
Post by: ComSoft6128 on 07:56, 18 January 19
Hi,

Using the Universal USB Interface from Ikonsgr I'm hoping, in the next few weeks, to begin the transfer of software and data files from my D20 CPC disks to the PC world.
Once I've looked thru these files the goal is then to display them in the Wiki for everyone to download.
At least ten (possibly more) of these disks store mode 1 and mode 2 17K CPC Vidi files - in total about 400 files from 1990 to 1994.
Does anyone have any experience in using PC software to view this type of file?
Is there a "gold standard" App that anyone could personally recommend?

Thanks,

Peter

Vidi files I'm not familiar with. General Amstrad Cpc Screen files however could be read with the multi-platform picture viewer Xnview MP. Here is the list (https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/#formats) which picture file formats it reads.

Thanks Widukind.

I ran across Xnview a few months ago while looking for something else, has anyone used this program?
Sorry I should have been more precise regarding Vidi files - these are standard CPC screens grabbed using the Rombo Vidi Digitiser.

Cheers,

Peter
