3.5 Drives

A general question.


I have a 6128+ with a 3.5" B drive, the green LED flickers when accessing a disc but otherwise remains off. This is how is I remember the the original drive from 25 years ago functioned.
I also have a CPC 6128 with a new 3.5" drive and the green LED remains on constantly, this drive also works.


Why the difference?

Peter,

This may be due to the drive being continually "active", how that may be is difficult to say, but I have found if /READY is tied low the light can be left on.
