Hahaha, I know :D I mean in the video. All the other versions have their musics on.

Most versions are cool but I still prefer CPC version. MSX is nice. C64, Atari... stairs: don't want

Never liked the game so why on earth did I watch a 15 minute video about it?

Having said that, the Atari version has pretty cool catchy music.  I would actually tolerate playing the game for that tune.  I don't know what the hell was coming out of the Spectrum's sound output there.  Was that rapid popping noise meant to be music?

Curious as to why some had the character sprites change in the Nightmare Room and some didn't.

sorry but beside music, all non-Z80 version quite suck... the pixel perfect gameplay is gone...

CPC version is actually Jet Set Wily 2, aka the largely extended CPC version...

I prefer CPC because somewhat  less colours on playfield yet betterly used... more sober... and the frequent changes between screens + raster (szcore zone) + border still gives a colourfull game experience, and it uses a lot of palette variations anyway. Real Orange ? unseen on most other machines lol...
Also the CPC version really had cool musics so it is a shamfull bias against CPC to not include thoses.

The "6501" (non Z80) version's stairs are so...yurk...

But yeah, emulator must be faulty in rendering the true experience.

Were all those versions "professional releases " ?
I guess Enterprise and SamCoupé could get some love.
Also no Oric Atmos ?

Acorn electron looks like a ZX81 version, somewhat...
Comodore16 looks good but loose the smoothness and looks somber and silent (emulation fail ?)

MSX : strange colours but I guess it must be somewhat Speccyperfect in reality.. too bad they failed to find the Hardsprite memory mapping as usual. :P

Atari800 : yurk... nice music, some kool ideas with the raster effects but that's all.

BBC : seems almost Amstrad perfect on some points, but less colour choices (only 8 colours base RGB ?), less rasters,

C64 : seriously WTF ? I hope this is emulator fails at best... those big stairs look painfully to play. and the "rainbow" seems so brownish, tarnished...

I reviewed the Atari version a few weeks back. It's fundamentally utterly broken. Hasn't even been playtested. It has a good tune and that is it.

I think The Atari version comes close to being the worst port ever!! The CPC version has to be the best without doubt, Nice and crisp sharp graphics, great functional sound effects.

Indeed. I just saw Manic Miner under Oricutron emulator, interesting port, music mainly. Far to be the best version but great soul.

Carnivius

Ohhh, the Atari music was by Rob Hubbard.  That explains why it's easily the best thing about any of those versions.

Rather stupidly I typed 'Ron Hubbard' into wikipedia the first time to look up his full list of video game music credits and ended up on the page of L Ron Hubbard who founded that scientology thing.  Really not what I wanted...

The C16/Plus 4 had a tiny map too:

It was after seeing how small the C16 map was I decided to write a version for the 16K Spectrum to see if I could do any better:

Great video!

Next time, check the game on CPC-Power, for a link to the Dragon version, as I did a cross-check and added links on both sides.

Dragon's version looks cool, now I want it on PCW  ;D

I always loved the CPC intro tune. Beethoven: Moonlight Sonata, Piano Sonata No. 14

Also nice improvement on JSW2...

C64, no ugly stairs.
