The first budget game I ever purchased. Is it an original concept or a cynical Sorcery rip off? Find out!

Am I the only one who was impressed by Sorcery/Sorcery+ in terms of graphics but found the game itself to be annoying? I never got why people raved about it.

Carnivius

I never cared for it myself either.   Would play it for a few minutes here and there but it was never a fave.
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife

CraigsBar

Ditto, but at the time the looks were amazing. I still prefered to load up feud tho.

I loved it although it is a cruel game. Get things wrong (for no logical reason) and end up locked in a room. The bits which require precision manuvering over water were a pig as well.

But even if you don't like Sorcery you'll see that The Apprentice is a poor rip off.

I like to play The Apprentice. But never liked the "original". Graphics are nice enough, cute style. I also prefer it's different atmosphere. The gameplay is different too, it doesn't feel the same at all. The graphics and animation could have been better with work and time. The main problem I see are some bugs. Pretty nice game otherwise.

Is it?

Find objects that release the wizards/rings. Seems the same to me. In fact the differences are mainly the things that are missing in The Apprentice.

As for a different atmosphere, The Apprentice seems to 'borrow' many of the scenery objects seen in Sorcery. They are just cruder. Check out some the castle wall background sprites and pillars. I'm not saying they are stolen but they are definitely 'inspired' by.

It's obvious that it's a game a la Sorcery, so your arguing seems right. Still It doesn't feel to play the same game. You are wrong on this. The feeling is what you get when you play. You can't get it by comparing.
Also the theme is the same but the atmosphere is totally different. One game is scary the other looks cute. After there's the quality of the graphics etc but on a budget game you are a little denigrate the game. At least you made several points. We have allready talk about this game on another topic. Few people like The Apprentice, no matter it's another Sorcery genre. And then? ...

Edit:  :o
This is not the same game. It shouldn't even be compared as a cheap clone:
The monsters are so freakin fast and extremely aggressive in Sorcery. Never liked it.
And you open doors and doors and doors every seconds.. The gameplay and the style (Scary VS cute) are different.
The budget game is buggy with unfinished graphics, but it's a nice game. I find Sorcery boring. It an overrated game anyway.
So: it is  :D
