Dunno... used to have it on my 6128, but it never really got me hooked. Sure, some impressive pieces of graphics, but that's all for me...

Uf, I played this one to death when I was a kid. I was terrible, though, I never went much further than level two. I used to love the graphics and the general setup of the game, and I knew quite a few tricks (enough to survive the level 1). The scroll was quite clunky but that never put me off. A few years later I played the PS4 version, slightly better in graphical terms and with a smoother scroll. It was a nightmare but I managed to beat it

Loved this. Thought it was perfect in terms of difficulty and graphics.

It's suc(k)cessor was awful, Mode 0 didn't work, no detail in the graphics and the game could practically be finished on the first attempt!
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

I am used to such terrible trash from US Gold...They shoul be called US Shit. When I played this game at my childhood, I was lucky of never have played this on the arcade.

A bit harsh as this was actually one of their better releases out of that Capcom licence deal to be fair. 1943, Bionic Commando and Ghouls N Ghosts were far worse.

US Gold licenced some gems too, Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, Rygar, Metro Cross, Solomans Key and UN Squadron, all of which did a good job utilising the machines hardware, were perfectly playable and faithful to the arcade. But that USG/Capcom deal was a shambles, their deal with Sega wasn't much better either, although it did produce Shadow Dancer which was good, but the likes of E-Swat are best forgotten.

I had a lot more fun with the sequel and really liked it's colourful graphics.  I was massively disappointed with the CPC port of the first game.   Had maybe one or two decent sprites (none being Strider himself who just looked crude) and an ugly colour scheme with lousy Speccy port graphics with boring grey backgrounds or marginally better than on Spectrum since the sprites were clearer due to colour and no attribute clash.  The CPC could do so much better.  US Gold's Strider 2 isn't a great game but I still far prefer it even to Capcom's 'official' Strider 2 on PS1 which is 90% boring boss battles and loading screens (which I tolerated owning just cos it came with a bonus disc of 'arcade perfect' Strider 1).

UN Squadron is still easily my fave US Gold arcade port on CPC though.
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife

I think you and I were playing very different games. The version I played was mode 1 which worked well. Speccy has a nasty tendency to blend in with the background.  ;)

I thought the colour scheme was fine, personally. But when it comes to the CPC and it's palette, one's poison is usually anothers pleasure. A lot of people here tend to prefer the C64 palette, but personally I find it drab and washed out, but that's my own personal taste though. I like vibrant colours.  :)

I loved both, the first one and the sequel  :D . Of course, being such a clumsy player, the difficulty of the sequel was just perfect for me. Well... in fact I had to cheat to finish it

You can't be THAT clumsy, surely?

Sure, sure! I am good at adventures and rpgs, but terrible at arcade games  :D  However, I have improved: I managed to finish all the Souls games and Bloodborne too. Maybe with double the level of a normal player and crazy hours of grinding, but still  :D

Ah there we go. Whereas I don't have patience for RPG's. Tried text adventures on the CPC too, namely Seabase Delta and The Big Sleaze. xD

You should try Doomsday Lost Echoes, I heard that it has a very friendly parser!  :D
