Wow, the "endboss" is a ZX81 with RAM pack ??? ;D

That's the most evil boss ever on CPC...

I had this game from the time I had a 464 (before my 6128..) as a tape game.

as a result, I no more played this game because I no more used my tapes after this.

I liked this game because it had sweet graphic from the time.

To look back at it shows lots of details.

=Split screen : there is a mode 0 part and a mode2 or mode1 part ??
Looks like mode2... I love the Character font.

=The game seems to be in Basic.

I mean, the sprites are quite like was available at the time.
Not masked, and some sort of colour clashes : when a sprite is on some background, the colours give a strange result.

Also, when 3 baddies sprites on screen : it slows down.

I never went very far in this game because I was a child, the game was in english, and it needs to make a map...which I never did. :-[

I am not sure it's written in basic.... but well it was a budget £1.99 game over here...

that would be XOR drawing mode ;)

Well, in 1985...I'm not sure Assembly was that well used even for games...was it ?

BTW the gameplay is actually quite similar to a Sorcery.

Same kind of scrolling-less engine.

The same apply to the mojon twins recent games : LalaPrologue, Sir laBiteMolle (french pun)...
Scrollless games with 3 villain max per screen and big maps...
Just the player's mechanics are different (jumping platformer instead of flying).

BTW a Nonterraqueous 3/PLUS could be a sweet concept.

This time the baddy would be a C64.

Soul Of A Robot was dubbed Nonterraqueous 2 but it looks far inferior (graphic wise)

Yes it was used a lot.

It's written using a lot of firmware functions, including the mode split it seems.

sprites drawn using xor.

it's ok for 1985.

And control wise... I don't like those 'knockbacks' when you try to jump to any platform. It seems more complicated to control the gauge bar for the jumps than the aim of the game itself. Anyways Nonterraqueous 1 seems great for 1985, and I see now those similarities you pointed out with Equinox.
Also I think Equinox was a well made game for 1986, menu with redefine, instructions, good graphics with lots of details in the backgrounds, music, a mix of action/puzzle that makes it a nice challenge to solve each level, a proper ending.. so it's an insta-classic for me and one of those games I have well treasured in my memory.
