[ESP Soft] Red Sunset demo Xmas 2018

ESP Soft has released a demo of one their upcoming games:

Had a quick go, plays quite well but the bullet collision detection is tight, you need to be spot on with them to hit the aliens!

Nice gift for x-mas but I would send it back to seller  ;D :-). Some little things might be improved (of course, I know this is a preview).

- player's ship flickers at the beginning of the game
- when new enemy squadron appears, background music is slowing (paused ?) for a little time.
- intro music is not enough apocalyptic to my taste

I am not fan of the vessel shadow. If you keep it,you logically shoud add ones the enemy ships :-).

It's a little bit frustrating that the only way to destroy AA guns is the smart bomb. Maybe extended weapons may help if I can survive more that one minute, who knows...

Anyway, final release could be the best vertical cpc shooter with hardware scroll.

I also noticed that the game seems to pause for a very short time when a new wave of enemies is about to appear.

I encountered a bug where, on my 4th or 5th attempt, no waves of enemies appeared. I think that in my previous attempt, I collided with the mid-level boss just when it appeared on the screen and I lost my last life.

Finally, the game also requires 128KB of memory - just in case anyone hasn't worked this out yet. :)

Despite the bugs, I think this is an excellent shoot-'em-up overall.

Yep, I posted it a couple of hours before you posted yours (after the demo was announced on twitter). That's OK, @Gryzor or any other admin can merge posts.

Yup, it's really lovely to look at and a joy to play! Especially for someone like me who likes casual shooters.


I'll have to concur that it's quite hard to hit the enemies though.

Very nice indeed, and well done! I wished we had seen such high quality games already in the 1980's when we played and programmed on our lovely CPCs.

This looks as good as something you'd find on the PC-Engine, I can't tell you how excited I am about this one... Long live the Amstrad  :D

Thanks guys. We gathered some suggestions came out after the xmas preview and also we were able to include some else improvements in the game.
We are still working on it, on the third level (the last one). Unfortunately there is no release date because we have to share our spare time with other activities.

Hi, not sure if you're taking requests on this, but I've played a lot of shooters throughout my life, would it be possible to have a faster rate of fire by default [emoji91] there's a great feeling to be had when things fire faster, for instance, the rapid machine gun fire in Gryzor has a great meaty feeling to it, then there's Dragon Attack that maintains a fantastic rate of fire as well, somewhere in between this will help make it a great game impo. Even without taking this on board, it's still a great game for the Amstrad from what I've played thus far.
