"This is it, the game that is described as the holy Grail of all Amstrad GX4000 games.    Well, everybody deserves his own oppinion  ;)  If they really sold only two copies of that game, it can't be that good  ;)  And for that money I pay a coder to redo it for me better  ;)

It would take an age to programme a game the likes of Chase HQ II, as driving games like these are apparently the most difficult to put together. According to a few people that have played it, the game uses the same engine as Burnin Rubber and is above average. I think I'd like it, as I liked Burnin Rubber and the game on the ST which is apparantly very similar.

The seller has a feedback of 0, that is he is a new user. Who will dare to trust this seller? If I had been interested, I would only place a bid if I could pick it up in person.

Think the seller is a "well known" person, who not want to be known as somebody selling stuff for crazy prices. But in Norway and Spain he will find guys paying every price  ;)

I've sent a message, and asked if I can go see the game, and sample it before I bid... he could just be a lazy guy or without a camera. And don't forget, Paypal buyer protection... which means the funds don't get released until you leave positive feedback.

Cool, I'll send him a message too.
Any chance you could chase up via your Retro Gamer magazine (Martin Carrol?) to see if it's a legit seller... I imagine it must be James Bridges selling this... I know a while ago you were looking into this ... no worries if not.

Regarding being a "lazy guy" .... man that would be annoying, for something like a computer game with a starting bid of £200 you would think they could at least be arsed to take a few photos - especially of the cart itself at least ... even some photos showing it working ... someone with a game like this would be sure to have a GX4000 or Plus machine lying about!!

WOW! Really? Is that the case now with Ebay auctions for sellers?? Fuck me times have changed then since I last sold stuff.

I've said it before, along with a few other members... I'd be more than happy to pay for new CPC games? I've tried programming my own games, spent months learning from books, but with few results. So I kinda have an insight into how difficult and time consuming these projects really are. I'd like to think people within the CPC community would be interested in funding new developments, if the project was right, and maybe took advantage of the Plus hardware.

For 200 euros to write a decent racing game for the cartridge? I agree that the community would possibly fund a development, and if not I'd ressurrect radical software and pay you myself.

Great to see Chase HQ2 about. Not sure I trust the seller though, needs some pics

For quality software the Amstrad community can pay well. According to Thargan 200 copies of Orion Prime was made. If all copies was paid for at the price of 16 euros each, thats a total of 3200 euros. Thats of course not the profit and the price seems to have included the postage. But still that must be rather good for an 8-bit machine that according to many people has almost no users or interest in the platform!

Lol, £200 isnt impossible at the beginning of the month (where most get paid), but i guess no one will want to bid unless having seen the item. Especially from a Zero rank seller. At this price it also has to be "pick up" only as no one would just send £200+ without seeing the item or trust that the seller to send the item. You dont buy a used car without at least see its real.

You can go around that Paypal buyer protection - I don't even need FutureOS for it ;-)

I don't know it exactly. But I think OP was sold for a price that is just enought to pay the matters used. Means the profit is litterally zero.

I don't think anyone would object to software writers making a profit from their work, it may not be much, but it might encourage more software to be written.

Steve, I really respect your opinion! However, IMHO we are all a half-bit older than in the 80ies, so we don't rely on money from coding on CPC. To pay some bucks may be a way to appreciate the work, but usually only few get few of this kind.
I think if somebody invests his / her scarce spare time in a CPC project, than this is idealism (or call it in which way ever you like) - but money is secondary  :) :) :)

Personally I did program all my stuff because I love the CPC and I want to see it staying alive, and without any need of another system (PC). I wrote my DPhD with the CPC and Prowort, I use a FutureOS application to work with DNA (in my todays job) and I just do as much as I can with the CPC. Some applications are still missing, whenever I have the time to create them - I will do. And if it takes 99 years I don't care  ;D

EDIT: Sorry, guess that was offtopic

Yes, can someone clarify this PayPal buyer protection? I dont think it really exists.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/safetycentre/buyerprotection.html

All that means is just a new term labelled on the usual 'raise a dispute with PayPal'
If you've sent funds and they received it, what's stopping them closing their PayPal account and running off with the money? Will PayPal then still refund you? Hm!

TFM: I'm disagree with you, just take a look at retro homebrew scene, what's going on atari 2600? an older console than GX4000, they sold from 100 to 400 units per title at 30$ cartridge plus manual 60$ with box. From 3 to 5 new titles per month, for a dead console!
I think you have missed something: the f.. collectors are here, trying to make good profit just like air raid game 20 years later(30000$)...
that's why i said "hope you'll succeed to make tour own cartridge and your own game"

We live in a curious era, the industry force us to buy unmaterial software because they expect your childs to buy them again, I think everyone realize that's a non sense, When my parent give me lego for christmas in 80's they alway told me when I was 20 and don't play it anymore to keep them for my child, and I realize how right they were!

just my opinion

looks like a polish scam.

A real possessor of the original would have put more pictures...just because no one would believe it if only a poor picture found on the internet is re-used...

oh wait... :o :-\ :'(

I was thinking about the market for CPC games and concluded that people want to buy (as for example in the case of Orion Prime) a physical product.

If Orion Prime had just been a DSK download, then would you have paid for that?

I too think the Chase HQ 2 cart is a scam, you have need lots of (new) pictures to sell something this rare.

Yes.
If I worked out a salary for the time I spend on making cpc games, and the money I actually got back, then I would be in debt.
My games never sold more than about 20 copies each.
But then I made them because I wanted to and because I wanted to see the cpc stay alive, and for the games sold by cronosoft, so I could have a real cassette ! :)
