Ohoy

Anyone up for betatesting my little shoppinglist / todo-list app for J2ME enabled phones?

It's called "SimpleList on FTP", and lets you create lists with your cellphone, and save them as text files onto your FTP server.
Navigation is done with my own invented Navi9 system. That means, phones with hardware keys uses the 9 numeric keys for navigation. Phones without hardware keys have to use the touch-screen, which is then divided into 3x3 invisible fields. So clicking the top-left corner is equal to 1, while the middle-right section is a 6. Get it?

To download, either type in this URL in your phone browser:
http://lublu.dk/filer/SimpleList.jad
Or else download this file, and copy to your phone from your PC:
http://lublu.dk/filer/SimpleList.jar

Should run on almost any phone.

Multiple languages: English, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, French, Spanish, German

Thanks for testing and posting feedback.

Maybe codename for the partner.  ;)

At least here people use the term Boyfriends/Girlfriends as if their married!

I think someone is trying to put a stop to this by saying it's improper to use terms which define what kind of relationship or simply a persons status is being defined. IMO it's all stupid, blame the people who do surveys and want to know everything about you, the Internet, and in particular Facebook, someday everyone will have a Facebook whether they like it or not because others will simply put your name, details, photos, etc about you on it instead!  ???

I tried the app on my DHD and it doesn't work... I mean the UI is not suitable for it. Too small, you can't get to the options, and once I got in a list I couldn't get out. And lots of wasted space.

I understand it's a port, but it's not suitable :(

Also, nowadays, with devices so powerful, GUIs begin to be really important. I'm afraid that a plain-text program won't cut it any more...

There'll always be a geek or two our there that prefer this oldskool lightweight approach.

Anyway, what do you mean you can't get to the options? You have read how navigation works in the first post, right? You need to understand how Navi9 works. You don't click the actually lines shown on the display. (That's part of what I hate with touch-screens; often you can't hit what you're supposed to, especially on webpages. So I've "invented" Navi9.). You divide the screen into 3x3 fields, representing the numbers from 1 to 9. So if you want to go into options you have to click 4, which on a touch screen is equal to the middle of the left side.

You can also make the font bigger, in two ways actually. Pressing Menu button you can change font in the Netmite emulator. On top of that, you can also change font in the settings.

It's true there is wasted space on bigger screens, especially if you're using the smallest font while having a device with a huge screen. I don't care to write a specific version for each screen-size out there.  ;)
