I have just translated in English and published an on-line article about the early days of Greek Software Houses. I am referring to a time zone between early '80s to early '90s. My source was a Greek text, written by [arislab], a good friend and Sinclair/Amstrad fan!
Honestly speaking, without his valuable help this feature couldn't being written and completed...

So, if you fancy for some concise history notes about nascent Greek software houses back in the day, please pay a visit here:

We hope to find the read -more or less- to your liking!  :)

Tip:
There are many infos about a good deal of Greek developers mainly focused on CPCs, since 'Amstrad' was so popular in my country at that time!

It is a very interesting article, and very illustrative for somebody like me. I did not know any of those companies  :)

Thanks for your encouraging words!

Yes, you're absolutely correct on this.  ;)
Most of these companies (and their respective products) were targeted for domestic consumers. As far as I know/read, only a handful managed to find a place in international market.

Nice read.

I wonder is there any charts of sold CPC units per country somewhere?
Back in the day I didn't know CPC was that popular in Greece.
Afair. I read there was more than 100000 CPC units sold in Denmark and only 1 commercial game (The Vikings by Kele Line) was produced here.

VincentGR

CPC was the number one micro in Greece among with ZX.

Superb work geo  :o

robcfg

Very nice article!

It's always nice to get a hint of the local software of other countries as there are always some unknown gems.

The question now is if greek CPC software is dumped or archived anywhere. It would be a shame that all these nice titles would be lost in time.

Keep up the good work!

VincentGR

We did dump some disks and cassettes, also there are some on cpc power too.

I miss one game though that I had as a kid.
It was a space exploration with minimal graphics in Greek language.
Can't remember the software house so I am not sure if it was translated  :picard:

Gryzor

This is really great, saving it to read later!

Can you point to the Greek article too, if published?

Also, could this be turned into a wiki article too? :)

Geo Anas

Yes! . . . Yes! . . . and yes! kind sir!   :D

Gryzor

Cool...I'll try my hand at turning it into an article, will full credit of course :)

arislab

Thanks a lot to George (aka Geoanas) for translation! except the article I'm trying to collect Greek software of all of these companies/Software houses and I'll convert it in digital format to make a digital preservation of greek software history ...and share them with you!
Thanks again!!! :D
