Bouncing screen (earthquake effect)

How do you make the screen tremble?
Also, when doing that, the scores and time should be on a different screen? (split screen)
Or it doesn't look that bad when the entire screen shakes (score panel+game area)?

I have no idea how to do it, but I've seen this effect in the game "Theatre europe" from Ere informatique when you launch the nuclear attack (by entering soleil noir, or solar black can't remember the good password)

The tremble is done by altering the CRTC registers.  There is a list of registers on the Grimware website.

A split screen also uses the CRTC.  See a nice guide on the Quasar website (in French, so use Google Translate or ou d'apprendre cette belle langue).

There is a good example at the end of the "Sappy" demo ;)
