My 6128 Plus has a Rombox attached with ParaDos, Protext, Discology, D.E.S., Utopia and DosCopy installed. A 2nd 6128 Plus (backup machine) has ParaDos on cartridge. My question is this - can anyone install those 6 programs on a cartridge? And if so - how much will this cost?
I presume it could be done using a big rom, a specific cart and some dip switches like this sort of thing http://retroelectronik.com/en/xin1-multigames-cartridge/75-gx4000-homebrew-player-eprom-to-cartridge-adapter.html?search_query=gx4000&results=4
Many thanks! Looks an interesting product, will email them and see what they can do.
I made a 4x MultiCart in the past: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Multi_Cartridge It's completely outdated since the C4CPC arrived. However, cartridges only allows for certain ROM numbers to be used and these are different to the ROM numbers used by a ROMBoard, so you may have issues with ROMs that require a particular ROM number to be used.
Bryce.
Thanks Bryce.
I have emailed Retro Electronik and will let you know what is their response.

The c4cpc is a much neater solution IMHO. If you can get the carts you require engineered then thatbwould be the way I'd go.

The C4CPC is probably the best choice. Dragon once made a Cartridge with lots of ROMs in it, so it is possible. IIRC this did contain ParaDOS, CP/M Plus, FutureOS and some other ROMs. I don't remember a link though.
Thanks, I will check this.
Cheers,
Peter
I was wondering if there was somewhere we could download these roms in cart format for the C4CPC?
What roms my cartridge?
https://mega.nz/#!B9wQXT4S!H2gA0cOFPN-Z6q5CEWwhzwjXXBgqyDA-S34-IOTA3RY
they just crash the c4cpc loader menu?
Try put it in one slot instead load it from meni. You don't need load it from menu, because it include c4cpc loader.
And not as you don,t try change the lower rom with external device. It should work fine
nope it just hangs now with the words loading in green text in the centre of the screen
You have something atached in the expansion port?.
Tell me what you have put, and i try it in my plus.
no i have no expansions
Tell me the name spanish/inglish/ parados etc etc
I have tried all the english cpr images from your rar.
Oh, these Cartridges seem to work perfect with WinApe, but on the C4CPC they crash. I don't know why. Is there a size limit (128 KB or 256 KB) for Cartridge files for the C4CPC?
I asure, when i released it the last year year, they work.
So one of two. I have put the wrong link,( i take it from hxc forum, because they are in my ide drives unmounted).
Or gerald change someting in c4cpc.
Don't try it in winape try it arnold best. The cartridge uses all, rom pages. 512k.
I go to examine my mega folder.
Oh, Arnold can do that too. I have to find a new release of it. Thank you for the hint. :) However none works with C4CPC firmware update 1.00.05 and Cartridge 1.0.2. That's the newest I found in the pages here on.
If works, in arnold should be c4cpc.
In my mega folder the last update is from 11-10-2016.
Anyway there should be more links in c4cpc thread or symbos
I my mega folder the rest of version are < that that
so how to do I run roms from cpr files on my C4CPC? I would like to try the rom version of the HXC loader and OCP Artstudio and various other software that is on rom
I downladed it in my c4cpc i think is in last firmware cpr 1.02. The cartridge loads no problem, so we have a mistery here.
mmm
You have another microsd to test maybe?.
Hxc loader is in cartridges, to opc artstudio you need the duke m4 for example.

What is the FW version of your card ? You can have get it by booting without sd card or on an empty slot.
I confirm that its hangs on the latest version of the firmware (1.0.6)

There is a 1.06? I in 1.05 I can view it with the cart when c4cpc shows loading... with my carts.
1_00_05 exactly.

Yes, there is a 1_00_06. It's identical to 1_00_05 except a tiny change for M4 compatibility that Duke fixed. So no reason to push an update.
I've just tested 1_00_03 to 1_00_6 and all crashed at some point.
I suspect an issue on the filesystem handling.
Some work for the week end ;)
Well at least is not my fault.
But is curius, it never happend to me lol.
I have edited the wiki, so nobody have to be lost asking about my cartridges.
In theory is possible change the roms, but to that is necesary delete something.
Bug fixed, update package on C4CPC (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/C4CPC#Latest_Firmware) page as usual.
Thanks.
Will be purchasing a GX4000 homebrew cart in the near future and will see what can be done with this interesting piece of kit.

If you want all of those on a cartridge then generally you need a patched os rom in the cart which will access &80-&ff rather than 0-16.
I started to make a program to do exactly as you want but I haven't finished it yet.
The problem I had was finding a place to insert the extra bytes, the OS doesn't have many bytes free :(

Tested with the before posted Cartridges, this all works very well now. Thank you very much for the quit and great update! :-)
The truth is i want enter discology and protext in her day, but the cp/m extra 9 roms make the cartridge full. :) .
symbos ocuppied 4 roms, future os another alot roms, and cp/m 10+ roms.
Looks that not all application ROMs for CP/M are really needed. Leave some of them away and you an add new ROMs. :)
Thanks for the reply.
Just noticed it, looks like a way forward. Ian at Mutant Caterpillar has just finished resurrecting the 1st of four 6128/6128 Plus machines to be brought back to life. When this personal project is complete I have asked him to look at the GX4000 homebrew with the goal of replacing my existing Romboxes. This is were cpcwiki is invaluable - the wealth of knowledge available is superb. Cheers!
