CM14 monitor problem

I'm having some trouble with my CM14 monitor.  The overall brightness seems to be down making it very difficult to see colours at the dark end of the spectrum.  However, a few taps to the plastic casing around the screen make it normal again (the whole screen instantly increases in brightness including the black background).  Any clues as to where the problem might lie?

That's a dry joint somewhere on the PCB. If you know what to look for you may be able to find it and reflow the joint.

It's terrible isn't it?

The morons in power are always banging on about the local economies, the environment and all that. Yet encouraging people to throw away totally repairable stuff into landfill and buy another one from foreign corporations really does nothing to help anyone except the greedy globalists.

More should be done to make people aware that their equipment is repairable, and usually a lot cheaper than the manufacturers tell them, when done by people like yourself.

Hi, did you check that the brightness knob isn't the reason for your trouble? Does it work fine? They tend to be noisy and sometimes fail.
